Teams on the verge of ending NCAA Tournament droughts in 2012

Teams on the verge of ending NCAA Tournament droughts in 2012 - NCAA Basketball - Sporting News

    Second on the list:

    Iowa State

    Last NCAA trip: 2005
    2010-11 finish: 16-16, last in Big 12
Overview: In Fred Hoiberg’s first season as a head coach – at any level – the Cyclones demonstrated a remarkable spirit and enviable degree of intensity. They simply had no talent.
The trick will be assuring that Iowa State’s large crop of transfer players, many of whom had issues at their prior stops, will perform with the same passion and commitment to common pursuits.
Chris Allen (Michigan State) is an athletic wing who can guard three positions. Chris Babb (Penn State) made 69 3-pointers as a sophomore shooter. Anthony Booker (Southern Illinois) projected, as a sophomore, to an 8-rebound player if he were getting full-time minutes.
Finding a level of chemistry among such players and the team’s holdovers will be quite a challenge for Hoiberg, but so far players have suggested they respond to him.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Interesting...of the five teams profiled we are the only one who did not make post-season play last year. We are this guy's "reach".

He doesn't have a collegiate play history to comment upon , but I respectfully disagree that this means he can't be mentioned as a reason why ISU may be on the verge of ending its NCAA tournament drought. He was a highly sought recruit and that often translates into something.

Agree. The story wasn't about transfers with playing experience. It was about the prospect of making the tournament next year. White is a HUGE part of the equation to have any chance.
