    Places to live in Ankeny

So I recently got a job with John Deere in Ankeny and am now trying to find places to live. I would really like to rent a place first and not buy anything at the moment. I would really be interested in like a town house or something similar. Does anyone here have any suggestions as to decent places to live in Ankeny that are under about $1000 per month?

Lots of townhouses for rent in Ankeny. Most will be in the 1000-1200 range for a decent size place. Check craigslist. I rent my 1600+ place out for $1150

Re: Places to live in Ankeny

I just got done with my lease at Tradition Apartments in Ankeny; they are just south of DMACC... Tradition Apartments of Ankeny

They are overall probably the best apartments I have lived in to date, and would still be there if I didn't buy a house.

Only downside is that Nick Collison is part owner of the property, and his mom is essentially the landlord ; but in all honesty, she is a great person, very easy going and accommodating.

Do you have enough ($5,000 estimate) to make a down payment on a town home? If so, purchase and keeping within your stated budget is workable.

you can buy one with 3.5% down and there is no way you would have to pay more than a 100k for one right now. They are tough to sell though if you are looking at short term.

Re: Places to live in Ankeny

I just saw a newer Town home in Ankeny sell for under $70k. However, resale could be an issue depending on how long you want to live in it.

Congrats on the job at Deere. My husband works there. Good company to work for.

Wow that's hilarious to me on so many levels. I just signed a lease there and I wondered why the heck she had so much Thunder stuff in her office and she mentioned she had a son who was 6-10. You're right though she was very nice and easy to work with!

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

Yeah, it took me a little while to figure out. Last name Collison, she was driving back and forth from Iowa Falls, and one day it just clicked.

Re: Places to live in Ankeny

You asked about decent places to live in Ankeny and I'd suggest looking around the Prairie Ridge sports complex area if you have kids or like the outdoors. It has a couple of small fishing lakes, tennis courts, jogging track, and sits next to the bike trail leading to Madrid. Great place to walk the dog and stop and watch the kids play their sports when they have games.

There are a lot of people in the Triton Homes off State Street trying to sell that might be trying to rent. Great location as its 3 miles from I80 and 3 miles from I35.
