    Betting board

The last few times I've been on CF the main forum page is full of betting board threads. Maybe it's just been my timing, but it's annoying. Is there any way that every game does not have to go to the front page?

No, there isn't. Many, many threads have come and gone on this topic. Just hit the "New Posts" link over on the left side and page through the threads you don't want to see.

    Re: Betting board

For the most part, I think those that setup the betting threads do a fine job at posting the betting threads at a time when the rest of the board's traffic is in a down time.

There are sixteen cybookie threads on the front page right now. I don't have a problem with a few, but that's ridiculous.

It drives me nuts too, but looking at the front page there are only 4 threads (not including this one) that have been posted in over the last 2 hours at least...so I guess if it has to overtake the front page at least it's during a down time for posting

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

That's true, but seriously, are there really a lot of people looking to make a wager on a Tampa Bay-Houston regular season game?

Do not question the CF gambling cartel. There are literally billions of imaginary credits on the line here.

Guido will be over to see you shortly.

It is only like this in the summer when there is nothing to talk about. Wait till fall hits, and you will have to go looking for the betting threads.

If it's that big of a deal to you, do what I do - open the betting forum in question, click on "Forum Tools", then click on "Mark Forum as Read". Viola, no more betting board threads that you don't care to see.

    Re: Betting board

I for one agree with the sentiment of the original poster. When you think about the sheer volume of betting threads (nearly 5000 baseball games are played every season), and the small amount of action on each thread, that's quite a bit of chaff to be cycling through the front page.

I don't know how many other users on CF operate like I do. I only read what's on the front page and once I'm done there I move on. It helps limit my time on CF to a reasonable amount per day. If I don't care for the betting (and in the vast majority of cases I don't) then having them appear on the front forum page, especially when the page is filled with them, is a whole bunches of missed opportunities for revenue for CF when I don't click on those links and CF doesn't get those page views.

This suggestion in particular is ridiculous for two reasons.

One. It's one MFer of a workaround, especially when you consider that if the betting threads didn't appear on the front page, the workaround for those wishing to see them is: 'open the betting forum in question'. It's amazingly inefficient for what I would be is the incredibly small minority who care to see the action on a pivotal Marlins/Met matchup in May.

Two. It doesn't even work. Read threads still show up on the main page. They just aren't bold (indicating unread) any longer.

You click on "New Posts", no more betting threads. That's how I usually view the site, so my method works for me. And as stated before, most betting threads are put up around the same time all at once, so you only have to do it every so often.
