    What's most important to Chizik?

I wonder what is the top priority?
    1. Win, baby win. Will he do whatever it takes to win, even if it means passing every down, or playing someone not working hard
    2. Install his system and build for next season and beyond
3 Play as many underclassmen as possible
    4. Try to win, but go with a system, and go with young talent.
After watching Game One, it appears he's going young and with a system first.

I think improvement from game to game is very important to Chizik, but you are kidding yourself if you think he's not doing anything possible to win right now.

I'd hope he plays who deserves to play, and straightens out who should be playing but isn't cutting it yet.

Re: What's most important to Chizik?

Do you honestly think he would pass on every down if he thought that might get a win? I don't think that is priority number one right now. He believes in building a running game first, then the pass. I don't think that will change. Just as Callahan in Nebraska did just the opposite his first season. I could be wrong on that, but that's the feeling I get.

    2. Install his system and build for next season and beyond

Gene's got his contract. He's going to make the players play HIS way, within HIS system, or they'll just keep losing. Its up to the players. Do they want to win? Or do they want to keep playing the way they're used to and keep losing?

Don't get me wrong, Chizik wants to win right now, but he wants to do it his way.

Re: What's most important to Chizik?

Winning IS priority number one for Gene, without any doubt...the best players will play, and we will do whatever it takes to give us the best chance to win, in Gene's opinion. If that is to slow the game down by establishing the run, that's what we'll try to do, and if it's to pass every down, that's what we'll do.

I agree his family and probably a 300+ lb angry defensive lineman playing for him.

I disagree with this. The best players WON'T play if they don't play the way Gene wants them to play.

If winning was number one, why didn't we pass more inthe first game?

Re: What's most important to Chizik?

Gene is going to do things his way.

I would guess that he wants to win every game and he believes that his way gives him the best chance to do it now and in the future.

If I had to pick one, I think that it would be number 4. That MAY be priority number one, but the priorities are probably so close that on any given day a different one could be on top.

Because Bret couldn't stop throwing it to the other team?

Because Bass had his way with Kent State in the first half?

Statistics show that we win more often when we run more often than passing.

Re: What's most important to Chizik?

They definately won't play if they don't play the right way, but if they don't play the right way, they aren't giving us the best chance to win, and my whole point is that we'll do whatever gives us the best chance to win...whether it be to play the right players, run the ball, pass the ball, whatever it takes.

A player not working hard, or playing within the system doesn't give a team the best chance to win, so I don't really understand why that's a part of number one.

No matter what, it will be run first, pass second. I don't have a problem with that, but you need a good OL to do it, and we are not there yet. Chizik won't go with a spread offense and fling the ball.

Re: What's most important to Chizik?

I just got done listening to the press conference on the clone zone. And it sounds to me that he wants to win now. He said he is going to give players a chance to correct their mistakes from the previous game before he panic's. He said he probably won't make changes till the 3rd game.
