    Landry Jones or Robert Griffin?

I'm beginning to dive into the college football preview magazines.

Sporting News and Lindy's has Oklahoma's Landry Jones listed as the Big 12's First Team quarterback.

Athlon however went with Baylor's Robert Griffin.

Who are you taking fanatics and why?

I'd take Griffin and wouldn't think twice.

I would go with the one who is injured least and can be on the field.

If they're both healthy, Ill take Griffin. He took Baylor to a bowl game, that should be enough of a reason to choose him

Honestly, the way Ryan Tannehill ended last season I may take him.

It will be interesting to see how Weeden does without Dana Holgorsen as his OC.

I don't think Quinn Mecham ever got a good enough shot.

I'm interested in seeing the Oky State offense as a whole this year. They made Dana look like a genius last year.

(I kinda wish we could have grabbed him instead of Herman. Oh well.)

I'm still holding out for the Steele Jantz train, but if you're choosing between two elite quarterbacks, you have to go with the one who plays better when it's time to do or die. Honestly, I haven't seen enough of either to know which is better in those high-pressure situations.

They're essentially still using Dana's system with a couple tweaks. What you're saying is kind of like saying, "I wonder if we can do calculus, because Isaac Newton is dead." Once you learn it, you don't need the inventor of the system around to use it.

The real question is what tweaks their new OC Todd Monken made to the system, and whether they'll make things better or worse.

Re: Landry Jones or Robert Griffin?

Jones. Not even close. Griffin has been figured out as a runner, and just isn't good enough beyond bubble screens and slants when throwing the ball. His receivers do most of the work in the Baylor passing game. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and I'll eat crow this year, but after looking like the Second Coming as a freshman, he looked pretty average last year.

As a runner, he isn't durable enough to be a zone read guy either.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Re: Landry Jones or Robert Griffin?

I'd take Jones. Griffin is an electric playmaker but is injury prone and isn't the game manager type like Jones. Jones has a lot of talent around him but Oklahoma wouldn't be as good with Griffin instead of Jones.

    1. Garrett Gilbert

No one else matters after that.
