"With McGee and Michigan State transfer Chris Allen, the Cyclones will likely be one of the top long-range shooting teams in the Big 12."

+ Scotty. I hope we make it rain. Now that we have somewhat of an inside presence, we should be able to make use of misses as well.

Lot of fresh faces in the league. Baylor, Texas and OK State is who I am most scared of.

"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."

With Allen, Mcgee, and Christopherson Iowa State will be one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the nation. This will no doubt be an exciting season

Don't forget about Babb's abilitiy to shoot, either.

Regarding McGee shooting 48.6% from 3 last season...it's obviously a different level of competition but there have only been 3 instances in Cyclone history that a player made 20+ 3's in a season at a clip better than 45% (Hoiberg, 93-94, 45.04% -- Willoughby, 96-97, 45.13% -- Sullivan, 01-02, 47.24%)

Yep and they can only get better with some help from Hoiberg on technique. Cant wait.

I can hardly wait to see Allen, Scotty and McGee (and the others) putting them up from behind the arc.

With some possibilities of "next man in" at some of these positions, I'm looking forward to Fred cranking it up on both O and D. They won't have to be quite as concerned about guys saving gas for the end of the game nor foul trouble. The weakness may be foul trouble in the post, though.

I think the inability to press and run as much as they did early in the season last year hampered their ability to be as effective later in the year. I really think Fred's teams will always be at their best when they are running and pressuring.

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

Fred has said that we will press and trap now that we have bodies.

Doesn't Royce have some range as well? Not a bad asset if we need a big post Player in the game and we need a 3.

Re: Top Newcomers in Big 12

I thought it was interesting that Fred again spoke of Babb playing some 4 at 6-5 225. Also described Booker as providing depth. I read that as Ejim starting at the 4 but we'll have to wait and see.

and I'm all out of gum.

Re: Top Newcomers in Big 12

They probably won't pan out, we will get riddled with injuries, have a suspension or defection or two and finish at the bottom of the Big 12 (this is me trying not to get excited about this year, thus setting myself up for a big let down...but it's getting harder to do!).
