Want to be Surprised by Which 2011 Newcomer?

Which of the new b-ball players do you want to be surprised by and exceed your expectations the most?

I want McGee to exceed the expectations. We're going to miss Diante terribly next year, particularly in the first half of the season when the new players are still learning. I think the key to a successful season is how well McGee can play the point.

I voted for the one I have the lowest expectations for.

As Okoro hasn't committed, he can't really be classified as a "newcomer." Besides, the poll is limited to names of players who will be newcomers for the upcoming season.

Re: Want to be Surprised by Which 2011 Newcomer?

If we get one or two surprises out of these guys, it means we're going to be very good:

Railey, Booker, Gibson or Sledge (I know Railey isn't a newcomer)

I think the most question marks are in the paint. We pretty much know that Allen, Scotty and White will be very good. I think most people expect McGee, Ejim and Babb to be solid.

If we can get more production out of the post in addition to White, we're going to be a well rounded team.

Booker. If he is good, I won't see the post as our weakness... atleast as a whole...

Booker. Having heard Coach say over and over and over that the SIU system was a confidence-killer for him, I'm anxious to see what he does now that he's had a year away from it. If he's solid, we're in strong shape.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

Gibson or Booker. We need a big man not named Royce to step up. Gibson or Booker needs to be a defensive presence so Royce doesn't have to guard the other teams best interior player.

No choice for all of them? I have high expectations for many of them, but would like to be plesantly surprised by all of them. The two most important to be surprised by though would be Booker, and Mcgee or Sledge so we have a good point and help inside.

    This!
Some forget that Booker was a top 50, 4-star guy. If White and Booker both end up being very dangerous down low, teams are going to have a heck of a time defending us.

I agree with the people who said we need either Booker or Gibson to step up. I think that we have enough gaurd talent that if McGee is just average we will still be ok but it is on the interior that we need the most help.

I watched Booker in the CCL last summer, I love his athleticism and hope he provides the highlight reels I think he is capable of on offense and defense.

Re: Want to be Surprised by Which 2011 Newcomer?

I voted for Sledge. College BB is a point guard's game. Without a point guard that can distribute, handle, make defenders switch and get guys in position to score you are not going to win in college BB. Sure it helps if you have good or great guys at the other positions, but without a good Point you are not going to win.

Re: Want to be Surprised by Which 2011 Newcomer?

I assume that you mean pleasantly surprised by.

I could pick RW, because I already think that he's going to be very good, so if he's good enough to surprise me...

Of course, i would also like to be surprised by just how good of a point guard, court general, and ball handler somebody is. That could fall to several faces....

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)
