    Gene Chizik show (on NOW!)

...just wanted people to know the GC show is on (ABC) at 10:30, the same time as Sound-off (NBC)

Sweet, thanks. I had nothing better to do.

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: Gene Chizik show (on NOW!)

He seemed to have a bit of desperation or urgency when talking about the fans. I think he really appreciates the support but understands the fragile situation with the huge funding venture by the Ath Dept. He almost seemed apologetic and genuinely hurt about the loss.

Totally forgot about the Chizik show being on. Miller is much more sports competent than Heather is. Wish they would have gotten him as the regular co-host if Deace didn't want the slot.

Re: Gene Chizik show (on NOW!)

I wasn't at the game (honeymoon got in the way) but I have been reading as much as I can on this site and I have seen some of the highlights and it didn't sound pretty, but I thought Gene was very good on his first appearance on the show. He was the first one to say that the team looked bad and I thought it was great that he told the fans to keep showing up. I also thought he sounded confident that the team would give the fans something to cheer about, I think he said "we will do our part." Anyway...I just thought it was a good interview and I can't wait for next week.

The road sure gets rougher than Kent State. UNI may bring 10000 hillside fans since they are pumped up.

Is there another way to watch the Gene Chizik show if I miss it? (preferably without subscribing to anything.)

Re: Gene Chizik show (on NOW!)

Good point... The coaches actually "did" do their part. Sort of a bright spot, I think it was coach McFarlane on the radio the other night that said, "we got our boys into the "red-zone" about 7 times." "2 times, we scored, 2 times we missed FG's, (and yes, if you can attempt a FG, I consider it a "red-zone") ...and the other few times we turned the ball over. Coaches got 'em there, players need to make the plays. I wish our Cyclones the best against UNI.

Re: Gene Chizik show (on NOW!)

Chizik said that he told the team "if you want the fans to cheer loud for you, you have to give them something to cheer about."

After watching the show, it really showed how many opportunities were lost by poor execution (fumble, 2 ints, 2 missed fgs, poor kickoff coverage at the end of the half).

Actually, the more I think about that, the more I have to agree that a Field Goal attempt is a red-zone "appearance" so to speak. I won't take the blame off the coaches, since they're the ones that prepare the players, but we need to execute in all facets to win. Not just scoring when we're within 20 yards.

Was he asked why we didn't pass the ball more?

Bass: No TOs / 60 YDS per 10 carries
    Meyer: 1 TO per 10 attempts / 60 yards per 10 attempts

We only rushed 39 times of which 7 were QB scrambles - assuming half of those were scripted that gives about a 26 to 36 split.

    42% / 58% rush.

We're not going to be Tech any time soon, but we're not the Huskers of old either.

His show was fine. I was happy he didn't spend the time telling us how great Kent State was.
