Interesting move. He did have some success in Cleveland and he has experience dealing with an alpha male superstar.

Don't know a lot about him other than his stint with the Cavs. I guess I always viewed him as a "right place at the right time" kind of guy. Is he really that great of a coach?

He comes from the Popovich coaching tree.

A very solid defensive coach, which is what the Lakers need right now. It'll be interesting to see if he keeps the triangle offense

I think its a good hire but its a cop out for Lakers, they need someone to fail next year or two so they can get who they really want on the up swing, and a dream for Brown but a bad decision because if he ultimately fails in LA, he will have failed with the two best ballers on the court in this era and will be a nuke to his career.

Re: Sources: Mike Brown new Lakers coach

Seems like a better (safer) hire than Brian Shaw. Given the overall talent in Cleveland during his tenure he did OK.

Pretty tough to beat the Magic or Celtics in a 7 game series with a backcourt of Mo Williams and Anthony Parker.

I was intrigued by Rick Adelman but he's been around the block a few times.

Re: Sources: Mike Brown new Lakers coach

I love this hire as I am not a fan of the Lakers. Nothing against Brown, but he is going to get a mud hole stomped on him by Kobe, who was barely contained by Phil Jackson, the premiere ego managing coach of all time.

I think that Cav's did a lot better with him in the games without LeBron(obviously wasn't a lot of games) than they did this year with LeBron gone and with a new coach.

Haha there is not one thing about that that is true. You think Kobe is the most ego managing coach of all time?

Who was the coach I was referencing in that statement? It wasn't Kobe.

Phil Jackson is the best coach of all time in terms of managing egos of players on his teams. I think Kobe was his greatest challenge. Mike Brown will not be able to contain Kobe's ego from destroying any sort of team chemistry and cohesiveness.
