    Ads on the site

This isn't a complaint and maybe this has been going on for a while but I found it entertaining that there was a UNI banner ad at the top of my Cyclone Fanatic window.

Top banner ad is usually based on your browsing history. Did you follow the Jacobson to Texas A&M saga? That would be enough to pop it up for you.

What you're talking about is spyware. I hope that's not the case.

No it is targeted marketing. Get used to it, you are being watched online.

Is that why this site has been so slow?

    Re: Ads on the site

The site being slow is likely due to the multimedia ad at the bottom of the page. My work blocks it, so things are fast here.

This happens all over the Internet. It is nothing that CF does. It will happen on most sites that you visit as a result of 3rd party ad networks.

For example, if you're big golfer and you Google things about golf a lot, there's a good chance that some sort of golf ads will show up on the sites that you visit more than someone who doesn't search for that.

    Re: Ads on the site

This site crashes my browsers flash plug in every time I'm on it. Can't even watch an imbedded video because by the time it's halfway thru it locks up. Kind of frustrating. I even reinstalled chrome and updated all the new plug ins.

If you tend to have a couple tabs open with flash driven ad sites I notice it more.

yeah... i think that might be due to the athletixnation ad (the one with the video at the bottom).

I finally just went and killed that in my hosts file and i havent had a flash crash since.

Another thing for chrome users, install the adblockplus plugin. Its fantastic, plus you can create custom filters where you can just right click on an ad and add it to the list.

C'mon Chris. Any ad that displays on this site has to pay for it. That's why this site is free for the rest of us.

    Yeah, that's frustrating.

I just use IE for video now.
