Home and Home with St Johns and Wisconsin

Since we are in Wisconsin and New York recruiting. Would anyone like to see us do a home and home with these teams. I think it would be benificial. We recruit a lot in Wisconsi and now we are hooked up pretty well in New York. Not to mention it would be nice to see Iowa State in Madison Square garden.

Re: Home and Home with St Johns and Wisconsin

and why would wisconsin and st. john's be willing to help us out? won't happen.

i'm 95% certain the days of scheduling home-homes against BCS schools is over. we'll play the 3 instate games, a preseason tourney, and a bunch of scrubs for revenue purposes. 18 b12 games will take care of the RPI.

Re: Home and Home with St Johns and Wisconsin

Why? because we have kids that Wisconsin wants in our state. Bohannen and some others. St johns would make less sense. However, a big 12 school on the resume would be good. Especially since we have been a lower big12 school recently

I would be all for it and would love it...but it won't happen! No way would St John's come to Ames. Wisconsin...maybe.

I would much rather see a home and home with the Gophers. There are a ton of alumni up here and it could be a very natural rivalry.

    Again, it's all about money.

If a major national network would broadcast the games, the three teams mentioned would do it. The top schools are taking on top schools prior to conference games to enhance their RPI scores and to dispel the notion that the big guys only play cupcakes.

St. Johns takes on all comers. I think Wisconsin does too.

This might happen in football, not soon, but in the future. The bowl sagas aren't going away. Congressional pressure will build.

wisconsin is already landing iowa kids. st john's is already playing kentucky. iowa state is helping those resumes? really?

i'd like to see iowa and iowa state host a double header in des moines (on espn), like ou/osu do in oklahoma city.

Re: Home and Home with St Johns and Wisconsin

ISU would need to become a top 20 team for this to even be a possibility and even then it would be a long shot. The recruiting benefit for winning a game against Wisconsin or St Johns is only there for the winning team.

I'll go ahead and say I see zero recruiting benefit. One game doesn't open a bunch of doors to anything.

This would be very interesting although I would prefer not to do this. I like having the team play in Hilton because it has a better atmosphere.

No way. I don't like my season ticket(s) being taken away from me.

I think Wisconsin already plays a home and home with someone in our state but I'd have to check.

I'd like to see Minnesota on the schedule, too, probably home-and-home, continual.

Those border rivalries can become a big deal, given time. Missouri-Illinois and UK-IU, for example. But they don't get that way by doing it for 2 years, then not doing it again for a couple of decades.

So if the choice was between watching ISU play a team like South Dakota St or someone like that at Hilton or watching ISU play a midlevel BCS conference team, let's say Marquette as an example, in Des Moines, you would rather have them play SDSU at Hilton?
