Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides

Has anyone seen this movie yet? I know there was a few midnight showings for it. I am going to see it tomorrow night and was curious if it was any good. I loved the first one, but the other two were not up to that same level, but still good.

I saw a review in the morning paper that pretty much trashed it as long winded fluff and gave it a C+.

But... I often love movies that the reviewers trash so you never know.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides

it is one series of movies I wouldn't mind starting to watch--starting with the first "Pirate's".................................................

I am proud to say I have never seen any "Lord of the Ring's" nor Harry Potter movies...

    LOL

p.s. what is this card game played by college kids? I'm taking a class at a local community college, and watch these grubs in the cafeteria........dragons or monsters theme.

    pure 'nerd alert' stuff

So it's cooler to watch a series of movies inspired by an amusement park ride vs. series inspired by actual literature? Not sure I understand the logic...

I'll wait and redbox this. The first Pirates was entertaining but then the second one was overly long dull and then the third one was ridiculous. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow was the only thing that got me through the last two, he's hilarious.

I went to it last night at Midnight! It wasn't there best movie but I still enjoyed it a lot! Def a good movie to go see in the theatre so you can see it in 3D. Overall I thought it was good!

I was pretty disappointed in it. I don't think this trilogy will be nearly as good as the last one. I would also recommend going to the 2-D and saving a few bucks. Maybe its just me though.

I liked both of the last two movies, but I agree that Depp is fantastic. Easily my favorite actor of the younger generation (The older generation being DeNiro/Pacino/Eastwood/etc.), I've not seen him in a role yet where he didn't pull it off brilliantly.

So, you're not into movies with great stories, complex characters and beautiful cinematography???

You should swallow your pride and check those out. Lord of the Rings was just a great trilogy.

Harry Potter...I think they started a little weak because the books hadn't totally taken off yet, they didn't know if the movie was going to fly and they started with a lower budget. But the characters grew into their roles (literally and figuratively) and every episode has been better than the one before it, IMO.

I could have skipped the harry potter movies, but Lord of the Rings was a masterpiece.

Nerd here. The game is called "Magic: The Gathering." It's basically a card version of Dungeons and Dragons. The cerebral part is how you construct the deck. Very strategy oriented. Stay away- it'll suck you in. I hereby surrender my mancard to you for the time being. If I survive a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick can I have it back?

P.S. I thought the "Pirates" trilogy was brilliant.

I enjoyed that it was in 3D! That may be because I like seeing nature like the jungle and stuff like that in 3D.

I disagree. I thought "Dead Man's Chest" was the best of the three. Normally I have hyper active attention deficit disorder, but somehow I can have extreme focus for a complex storyline with good character development.
