    New bed

Ok CF, we've had our current bed for 10+ years and I'm wondering if anyone on here has an opinion on what the best bed to buy is and where to buy

    Re: New bed

They're not the cheapest, but it was definitely cheaper than a divorce ...

The Comfort Select Sleep Number Bed! The husband and I have drastically different comfort zones when it comes to firmness of a mattress. This bed allows us to both be happy.

We're had ours for over 10 years, and we have one in the guest room because for ~5 years I lived in an apartment in DSM during the week because a 200 mile round trip commute a day was just too dang much. Now that we're back to full-time living together in one house, that second bed is in the guest room. No, I won't sell it to you, it's my back up plan.

Temperpedic. Expensive, but the best in my opinion. Try for a "knock off" version at one of the outlet type mattress places.

We tried a knock-off the first go-round and only made it a few years before the foam broke down. Got the real mccoy tempurpedic a few years back and have NOT been disappointed.

We got the real deal too a few years ago, we love it.

Yeah, that is what we are planning on when we need a new one.

I purchased a DeluxeBed Tempurpedic mattress approximately 3.5 years ago. It was very comfortable/supportive for the first 2.5 years. Around that time, my hips and lower back started bothering me. I was a bit worried because I've never suffered from any long-term aches or pains. But I noticed that my mattress was starting to get really soft in the middle, causing my midsection to sink lower than the rest of my body. By the time I got rid of it, right at the 3 year mark, it was almost like sleeping in a hammock.

I'm not a big guy (5'6" and 160 pounds), so body size wasn't an issue. I used the Tempurpedic foundation and mattress cover, so no problems there. I can only conclude that the product was defective and breaking down after only 3 years of use. Needless to say, I am completely underwhelmed by Tempurpedic mattresses.

I replaced it with a Sealy Posturpedic (firm innerspring with a couple of layers of memory foam on top) and I've been free of any nagging physical problems ever since. It took a week or so to get used to sleeping on it, but it's been very comfortable ever since. The Sealy was about half the price of the Tempurpedic and is Relic approved/recommended :)

    Re: New bed

Just got a Serta Perfect Sleeper Pillowtop. It is a middle of the road priced bed($1050)with a lot of the features of the more expensive ones. Got the California King this time. My feet have hung off the end since I was 12 and this is awesome. It is definitely more firm than some of the other pillow tops but thats what we were looking for. We have been sleeping on a Stearns and Foster P/T for the last eight years but didn't want to dole out that much this time(~$2000). It's still a good bed just had a kid move out so needed a guest room bed and took the opportunity to upgrade the size.

I absolutely love my Sleep Number. I never knew what a good night's sleep was until I got it.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Mine fell apart after 5 years. They are terrible. Give it time.

    Re: New bed

Tried out a Tempurpedic a couple years ago for about 60 days - never quite adjusted to it and returned it. Got a higher-end Simmons "normal" mattress instead and have been very satisfied. My opinion is, since you are going to spend nearly 1/3 of your time on your mattress, it's worth a few extra bucks to be comfortable.

    Re: New bed

We got a new bed a few months ago and the Sleep Number and Termperpedic were just too expensive. We went with a Lebeda pillowtop and have been very happy. They have a factory/showroom in Marion, don't know if they do in your area or not, but here's their website:
