    New Google Chrome OS

Google Launches 'Chromebook' PCs, Takes on Microsoft and Apple - FoxNews.com

will be interesting to see if an internet only OS will be successful. i usually spend most of my time online but i like being able to install games and other programs if the internet happens to be down. kinda worthless if your internet is down

    Re: New Google Chrome OS

I dont get the whole 'chrome os' thing.. why not just focus on android, or a laptop-optimized version of android?

And.. i dont see this going well at the current price points. Why spend that much on a chrome netbook that only does internet, when you can get a netbook with windows 7 that'll do everything the chromebook will do and more?

    Re: New Google Chrome OS

I have a CR48. The hardware sucks but the OS isn't that bad. I can do a lot with it and for most people it will be perfect. The leasing price is way too high but the straight purchase price is not bad.

Looks like Google wants to steal business from Microsoft is probably the answer.

    Re: New Google Chrome OS

I've had it since Jan. The main thing I use it for is letting other people use it. When friends want to check Facebook or whatever on my computer I let them use Chrome OS. Then they can login with their own Gmail or as a guest and I don't have to worry about them getting my computer f'd up.

Can you run Google Chrome OS in Virtual Box? If so, where do you download the OS from?

There are some developer community versions out there. Im still yet to find a good enough one that will run on my hardware without issue. I want to use it on my netbook, but driver support is spotty.

Pretty slick little OS. Very lightweight and there are tons of apps for it. I am using the side by side version that you install on windows.

The CR48 from Google. My company is a big Google Apps user and we are a reseller so I got one free when they sent them out earlier this year. Other than the touch pad being terrible it's a pretty good little machine.
