    Pretty much spot-on IMO

Seemed pretty fair to me. I would love for this team to make the tournament and I think they have a good shot at it, but we've yet to see them do anything yet.

Uh, I don't know about you, but I didn't see a single thing in there that wasn't accurate.

    Re: Keeler-Same old ****

What did you want him to write? That, despite some blows to the team and coaching staff in recent weeks, it's all good?

Have to admit, that's one of Keeler's best articles in quite some time.

Fair article...glad I'm not one that has ridiculous expectations for next year. I prefer to hope for a pleasant surprise.

    Re: Keeler-Same old ****

I started reading the article, but stopped only a few paragraphs in. I don't need/want someone else to 'ground' me on my expectations of next year. I still expect good to great things next season. I don't care if it's unrealistic or not. That's my issue.

    Re: Keeler-Same old ****

To me it is not the content of the article but the way he brings it together. Just another chance to dig at ISU. I guess that is journalism and what he does/stands for.

    Re: Keeler-Same old ****

He comes across a bit cynical but in all reality what he says is the flat out truth. Freddie's team showed promise last year but it hasnt been the offseason that he had hoped for. I just hope that we are done with all of the bad news surrounding the program and the remaining players take notice of what happens when they step out of line.

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”
    – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register

    Re: Keeler-Same old ****

Coming from the same guy that just wrote a feel good article on iowa's latest felon recruit, who cares what he has to say? He's irrelevant. But by all means, keep giving him credit for his worthless job. Opinion columnists have one of the most obsolete jobs in the world. It's called blogging in 2011. Most people don't get paid for it.

Fred is walking a thin line. I can't imagine what would happen if one of the transfers gets into trouble… boom goes the dynamite

The thing is, making it to the NCAA Tournament is not a ridiculous expectation. The last six crappy years have us down, and we think it is so hard to make the tournament because we've been bad for so long, but it really isn't. Before Mcdermott it was an expectation that we would be competing for a tourney run most seasons.

We may not be any better next year, though I think we will be. Hoping for a tournament run is not a crazy expectation, its something we should at least have legitimate hopes for 75% of the seasons.

Nothing wrong with that article. Its just from a glass half empty viewpoint.

I don't really think that's the case at all.
