    FARMAGEDDON IS HISTORY

With Kansas State-Iowa State football moved into December, we now have Frostygeddon. Instead of a party in KC in the sunshine, it will be one windy cold mother in Manhattan. For your own survival, bring plenty of antifreeze.

I was thinking whiskey would do the trick.

On a brighter note, we won't have to worry as much about student attendance for this one.

    Re: FARMAGEDDON IS HISTORY

I don't know about Kansas, but there are some farmers in Iowa that are still harvesting late November into December. Just sounds like K-State fans need to grow a pair IMO...

    Re: FARMAGEDDON IS HISTORY

Are there more games scheduled in KC? I thought that last two were just a two year contract. I'd agree, it is much more appealing in mid Sept than it is in late November.

    Re: FARMAGEDDON IS HISTORY

I too thought the KC thing was a 2 yr deal; although I wasn't sure if it would be renewed. I think it was popular with both schools and made for a great weekend. That said, the last minute schedules are not that bad of of thing. We get a couple of bye weeks during the season to recoup, heal from injuries, and get an extra week of practice to prepare. All good things. And I thought that because the ISU-KSU game was moved to the end of the season was for a possible TV appearance. It is very possible that 1 of those 2 will be playing to earn a bowl appearance. Heck, maybe both will be. So for a late season game between 2 major conference teams playing with a purpose it might make for a good televised game. If both are sucking it up then moving to the end of the season doesn't matter. So I considered the move a good thing. I am in favor of the KC games though and hope they revive those.

    Re: FARMAGEDDON IS HISTORY

Two teams at 5-6 playing for a bowl game isn't exactly going to set the ratings on fire for TV.

I doubt you'll see us playing in KC anytime soon. We struggled to get 40,000 fans down there. Missouri/Kansas they at least get a decent amount of fans in Arrowhead.

Uncle Bill doesn't like the KC game. Ergo, it is kaput.

I think this stays Home and Home. Being moved to early December, you guarantee that the student bodies will be there, and you aren't conflicting with family holiday obligations. I think this game will draw better attendance than Thanksgiving Weekend games.

It's much more appealing on the last weekend of the year as opposed to Thanksgiving weekend.

I think the KC game makes a lot of sense and should be brought back as long as the Big 12 has ten teams.

    (a) The conference needs to get to a 4-4-1 neutral schedule. The 4-5, then 5-4 home game schedule is stupid.

    (b) OU-UT already have Red River Shootout. MU-KU have the Arrowhead game, let them keep the rivalry weekend game late in the season and freeze in KC. Tech and Baylor are playing another neutral for 3rd straight year. Just need to make OSU and A&M hook up (San Antonio?). KSU and ISU should have Farmageddon, and make it the first conference game of the year every year in KC, in Sept.

    (c) If it was a constant matchup every year, both schools could put it in the season ticket package, and attendance would jump to 60,000+ between season tickets, KC alumni, and walk up.

It really makes too much sense for this not to happen, which is why it probably won't.

San Antonio wouldn't make much sense for TAMU and OSU. Stillwater and College Station are 400+ miles apart to begin with, and San Antonio is south of College Station. If the Big XII were to do this, the Dallas/Fort Worth metro (Cotton Bowl/JerryWorld) would make the most sense for that neutral site.

Still, it seems like you're forcing it. For the teams that have a natural neutral-site game, the 4-4-1 model makes a lot of sense. But for the other teams - of which ISU is currently included - adding a neutral site game is really just taking away a home game every other year. Kansas City is hardly an easy trip from Ames. (Not a hard one, either - just playing Devil's Advocate). The way our schedule is set up, we are set to have 6 home games each year with our non-conf included. Ideally a BCS conference school would want more but that is what we have to deal with. I don't mind the current system.
