OU football: Strange Thanksgiving opponent | Berry Tramel's Blog

I would give anything for the win against Oklahoma. Above Iowa or Texas.

    What part was inaccurate?

and hate to break it to you but there's a better chance I discover oil under the field at JTS than there is of us winning in Norman.

    Re: No Respect Column

There is not much respect there but considering they beat us 52-0 last year . . . we havent earned any.

That's what I said when I hit the road for Austin last fall. However, I do generally agree with that sentiment.

Anything is possible, but how many times has OU lost in Norman since Stoops was hired?

    Re: No Respect Column

Bottom line: winning = respect. We don't have anything to back up any kind of slams at us until we start to consistently beat good teams. Right now we are a lower tier FB program in the conference and until that changes no one is going to fear playing us nor get excited over this game on Thanksgiving weekend.

Texas at least loses at home occasionally. Stoops is 71-2 at home or something ridiculous like that. Bit different.

So you are saying there is a chance!

I love the brianiac in the comments who thinks that they would have moved 'Bama v. Auburn so 'Bama v. Oklahoma could get the marquee Thanksgiving weekend slot if only OU had jumped to the SEC.

    Re: No Respect Column

I like the comment from Sioux City:

"Go to sleep OU fans, players and coaches. ISU cannot possibly beat OU, ever. Why? History.
Look at history, just please don’t look at ISU’s last two seasons with insurmountable odds on the road at Lincoln and Austin. This will be a tune up for Bedlam.
    Shhh, go to sleep."

    My thoughts exactly.

If you're an Oklahoma fan it probably hurts a little bit to see all of these other top-tier programs having marquee matchups that weekend while you only get ISU. It's like the big-name programs all got together for a game of kickball and OU was the last kid left after they picked teams, but since they had an odd number of players OU had to go over and join the nerds in their game. On a positive note (for them), they can always look forward to posting the biggest score differential of the week!

They have lost 3 times at home since 2002 and the last time was in 2006 against Texas. They have also lost to TCU and Kansas St.

Was the 2006 game against Texas in Norman though? Usually the Red River Shootout is a neutral site right? OU may have technically been the home team, but I wouldn't count that as a home loss.

Edit: Yeah, just checked, it was at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Texas. Not exactly home field advantage for OU.
