    Teddy Lampkin (Track)

Clone fan here in Omaha and Teddy put up some nice marks yesterday at the Metro Conference Track Meet. Here is the link from the Omaha World Herald newspaper..... Anyone know if he plans to run track for us as well?

    Re: Teddy Lampkin (Track)

    Very impressive.

After 15 years without a four-gold winner, the Metro Conference track and field championships hit a double Wednesday with Ted Lampkin and LaQue Moen-Davis.
Lampkin won the last event at Burke Stadium, the long jump, and registered the state's best mark this season of 23 feet, 3  inches. The Omaha Central senior also won the 100 meters and ran anchor on the state-leading 400 relay Wednesday after winning the triple jump Tuesday night.

He said his 100 time of 10.69 was a personal best, and the relay team (42.18) fell just short of the 2007 meet record of 41.7.

“It was a great meet,” said the Iowa State football recruit. “I'm very happy the way it went.”

Honestly unless it benefits his football future I hope he avoids track at ISU. Football is where the ADs bread is buttered and we need him to be All In.

not necessarily. jeff demps ran track at UF. If you think Ted's speed should be maximized, have him run track here at ISU

Yeah, I guess if he can handle the schedule, go for it. I think it's relatively rare for athletes to excel at both football and track. They are usually really good at one and not as good at the other depending on which one they emphasize.

How good is ISU's track team? Yes Demps was doing it at Florida but I think UF's track team was in the hunt or won a National Title.

I think maybe we underestimate how many players do participate in track. Demps is one, Denard is another. As long as they are at spring ball I think it's fine. It's a good way for a receiver to train a little and stay in form. I don't have a problem with it. Plus, it keeps them out of trouble.

I would bet that current ISU FB players running sub-11 100's are few and far between. Maybe West, James White, Reeves. Can't think of too many more.

Although he is very fast and im really excited he is coming here, but the time is a little off because it was extremly windy in Omaha yesterday during this meet so his 10.6 is not very accurate.

Just imagine what he'd have run without that 25 mph headwind!

And just imagine the "wind bouncing off the scoreboard" factor when he's motoring downfield here!

You want you're body in two different shapes for track and football. He shouldn't run track at ISU. Jammal Charles ran track in college also, but if he hadn't he probably would have been a first round pick. Thank God he did though! Go Chiefs!

I am not a track guy. Lampkin is fast for Nebraska but how do his times compare nationally? I am not being negative, I really would like to know.

As a RB, I would agree with that. As for a slot receiver dependent on speed/quickness and not size? I don't think it's a big deal.

Still pretty fast but not elite. Denard Robinson ran, I believe a 10.42 last year. Of course, that's with collegiate training.
