Does the new womens 3 point distance hurt or help us?

Novice ISU womens bball fan here. I know we generally live or die with the outside shot, but does this hurt or help? If we had a dominant inside game I don't think it would really matter, but I can't help to think this is bad news at first glance.

it won't hurt because when u watch most the time they are behind the men's line anyway

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I think it will hurt...yes most shots are further out than the line, but moving it out will impact how a shooter sets up. They will adjust in time, but short term I think it will impact percentages.

Re: Does the new womens 3 point distance hurt or help us?

I'd like to see the hoop dropped to 9 foot 6 inches. This would add more excitement to the game by bringing the game to the players. The inside game would be emphasized and the outside shot would increase in %. Overall strength is a factor for women. This was addressed when the ball was reduced in size. I think the hoop would be the final piece.

    PS. I have three girls.

Interesting idea. Have never heard this before. I don't think it will ever happen, but I think it makes a lot of sense.

That would make it pretty easy for players like Brittney Griner to slam it down everytime.

It would accentuate the inside game as well as improve the outside at the same time. Longshot or probabally no shot at getting this through but I'd like to see a year of it. Problem is if you make changes it would be tough to go back

Re: Does the new womens 3 point distance hurt or help us?

The three pt. line might enhance the inside game somewhat - we'll do well with our current front line. Women, generally, can't play "above the rim." They've adapted a game that is uniquely the women's game in which shot making is more important. IMHO, lower the basket and it moves the women's game more toward being just like the men's game, but, not as good.

It also screws up girls who spent their entire lives shooting at 10-foot hoops.
