    What Happened?

Take a look at how both teams performed on the keys to the game and it is easy to see how Kent State got the victory. My blog this morning takes a look at what went wrong for ISU on those keys. I will be adding a look at the good, the bad, and the future in a separate blog post sometime today.

    Re: What Happened?

Here is what our players drove to the game last week - did not have much fire on the field like I expected - maybe they are tired out from summer workouts:

    Re: What Happened?

You know writing the bad which I just posted, was strangely therapeutic for me. I am a excited now to turn to writing about the good and and future. The biggest of the bads for me was our quarterback play. I copied part of my blog post below that shows some revealing stats....

"One of the most important measures is yards per attempt, against Kent State, Meyer had 6.2 ypa, well below both his sophomore and junior campaign. As a sophomore he was 31st nationally at 7.8 and he dropped to 64th as a junior with 6.8 ypa. A second important measure is interceptions per attempt. In Bret’s two previous years he was 1 int. per 37 attempts, followed by 1 in 31. Against the Flashes Bret threw 1 int. per 12 attempts."

I looked at three things that I though were really bad last night, and now thankfully I will turn my blog writing attention the good...and there was some.

    Re: What Happened?

By the way, in passing efficiency rating Bret as a weak 111. (NCAA calculates different than NFL so while 111 is a good day in NFL, it is not in college football) Bret was 118 for the season last year which ranked him 76th amongst div 1 qb's.

That number really puts things into perspective. That was a really bad night.

Yeah if you want to go there with Rex, he was better against Kent State than Rex is against. I don't know most any nfl defense.

I was going to ask you to post where you found this, but then I decided to not be a lazy @$$ and search for it myself.

Here are the NFL, AFL and NCAA formulas:
