Animal science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, & Nutrition do not belong on that list.

Re: The Daily Beast 20 most worthless degrees

To be fair, it says Mechanical Engineering Technologies and then says "Engineering Technologies" for undergraduate field of study. Wouldn't that be more akin to an "Industrial Technology" degree at ISU than an actualy ME degree?

    I'm calling bs

They used the same number of graduates for several of the degrees. I have a hard time believing that there was the exact same number of graduates for two degrees. The numbers seemed low too.

I'm not sure I agree with your logic, I believe all of those belong on that list, because I do not think eating, using things that are mechanically produced, or discovering cures to things are vital for life and they are obviously all a waste of society .

Re: The Daily Beast 20 most worthless degrees

Out of curiosity, when did The Daily Beast become a bastion of credibility?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I would agree with the art history, music, and photograhy mainly because the job market isn't overwhelmed with job openings in these fields, and frankly I can't imagine the average music major is really raking it in.

Other than that, the man/woman who wrote this obviously doesn't like to eat food, read the paper, have clothes that fit, have any interest in the growth and well being of their child, hates having life saving medicine, and most definately doesn't want his/her pet to take another d*mn breath!

It's funny, all the majors I ever considered are on that list. And now I'm glad I'm getting an advanced degree in #13 (Art History). Go me!

then you would be assigning the worth of knoweldge a dollar amount. You dont need a degree to make money and a degree doesnt equal money. It does equal knowledge though. Theatre, Art, and History all are important to soceity, and so someone taking the time to understand these subjects is important to keeping them alive. Whether you make a ton or not. I personally know a lot of performers that make a great living and tour the world having a great time... most have some sort of dance and or theatre degree.

An ME Tech degree doesn't have as much of the science classes. I believe it focuses more on practical things like drafting and those kinds of things. I'm not sure who accepts an ME Tech degree.

Re: The Daily Beast 20 most worthless degrees

Taking advice on "worthless college degrees" from The Daily Beast is a little like spending your hard-earned money on the hardback version of "How to Win the Sears Trophy & Bring Home the Heisman Trophy Too" written by the coach of Prairie View A&M.

It's the Daily Beast, for God's sake. Megan "Like Totally" McCain writes* for them.

    * - "writes", if you're willing to call that writing.
