    I liked bringing in Phillip Bates to run a play. Sure he got nowhere but at least we are trying something different.

    what happened to scales? I didn't expect him to play much, but did he even get on the field?

    I was suprised to see him too, but has his redshirt been lost?? It seems to me a lot of players over the years have played one or two games and then redshirted. Or maybe only a medical redshirt applies in that case.

    I don't think his redshirt would be lost from just that game. I am not sure how much he has to play though to lose his redshirt.

    JJ Bass really impressed me as did Bibbs. They tore into it with the opportunities they were given. I expect alot our of Bass as the season goes on. Hamilton did well also.

    I think once you play, you lose the redshirt... unless you get injured for a significant portion of the season, at which you can apply for a medical redshirt.

    Bates and Cameron Bell were both out there bell was in on kickoff. I thought the o-line played well made some holes and only gave up one sack when KSU was blitzing a lot.

    I believe I saw Jason out on the field in the 4th quarter with bass in a 2 back set. But he never touched the ball.

    Good things I saw....
    Bass.......
    Special Teams - Shaggy and Sandvig dropping punts
    1st half defense
    The bad....
    I think this mainly all lines in the Offense line so many mistakes and stupid penatiles

    Scales was in for two back to back plays late in the 4th. He was in the back field with Bass both times. Neither play did anything.

    Unless he gets hurt, his redshirt is gone, but that must not be the plan, if they intended to redshirt him, they would not be putting him in at all.

    We have so far to go however. We looked better in Toledo game last year with stupid playcalling than we did last night IMO. We did not make too many mistakes, but we lacked leadership and spirit. Too even keeled for my liking. Punting and fieldgoal kicking was weak. Punt returns shaky and kickoff returns excellent. We can improve but will it be enought to win beyond UNI and maybe Iowa. At thois point we played same players too long. We have little depth. Everyone is talking about this game but the bigger concern is whjat will it do to the recruiting. From what I can tell that white guy Jarvis running back had a better support cast at little Kent State. Kenbt State backfield is similar to UNI backfield.

    And thanks to the band for a great effort.
