    Remote direct tv reception

Is there some way to spin off my home direct tv service for occasional use at a cabin or tailgating? Could I take one of my 2 receivers from home? I'll need a dish with the right equipment to match the receiver. Any recomendations?

Slingbox anywhere you can get internet access. I do at tailgating. A lot easier than bringing a dish and aiming.

This is assuming you have a laptop.

Slingbox works well. I have dishnet at home and stream my home tv to my office computer all day. No problem with controling the home dishnet receiver, the same remote control shows up on my computer screen and use the mouse to control it.

Than you can either watch it on the laptop or if you want to watch it another TV you can connect it to that. You're not going to get HD level picture however.

How are you getting internet access while you are tailgating?

I have a wireless data modem for my laptop or some smart phones can be tethered to your computer. Or you can watch your slingbox on your smart phone.

OK, I assume by one of those "thing a ma jigs" you're referring to a mobile internet card- I have one with Verizon. Given this, what kind of usage does this use. My mobile card is for 5 MB. Can the usage be calculated on per hour usage or what? Use of the mobile card over the 5MB is very costly.

It's video so it would eat through your 5mb in no time.

I also can watch on my droid X although to be honest I rarely do. I use it more when I'm traveling on my laptop.
