    Slacker Radio

Amazing. Using my droid 2 for this and having it on my car stereo sounds a million times better than plain over the air radio. I definitely prefer this to pandora.

Only thing you need to watch out for with it is data usage. Make sure to remember to turn it off when you're done if you aren't on an unlimited plan or it could cost you. I accidentally left it on overnight and it used almost a gig.

Between this and amazon cloud drive, I don't know if I will ever need another source of music again.

Is paying for Slacker that much better than the free version? What are the pluses to doing so? Thanks!

Slacker offers preset stations (Rock, Country, Hits, etc) whereas Pandora creates stations based on music you choose, either an artist or a song.

Unlimited skips makes it worth the $ IMO.

As for Slacker vs Pandora, they do the same thing but just a little differently. I prefer Slacker but I only have Pandora on my Blu-ray player so have to use it there. Both are pretty amazing really.

Everyone keeps talking about how sweet Slacker is, and I've wanted to give it a try.

This doesnt convince me though, I like how Pandora gets to know what I want to heare by what I choose. I have 3 finely tuned stations of different genre's that play exactly what I want, find all my new music that way. I don't want preset music.

I agree, I love how pandora can be so specific

You can also "choose" on Slacker as well. Just enter an Artist, or song title, and it will play similar music.

Actually, you can do the same thing with Slacker. On their website, you can pick artists and songs to add to your station. I've only made one so far, but it seems to be pretty good.

The thing that I didn't like about pandora was how limited the number of skips was sometimes and how stations got to be either very limited in the number of songs they played, or they would throw in random things that were in no way related to what I had on the station. For example, I had a pandora station with Rise Against and 50 cent, and it kept trying to throw in beatles and elvis.

Also, I don't know if its because I'm listening over 3g instead of wifi like I used to, but the sound quality seems a whole lot better with slacker.

The paid version is handy if you have a smart phone. You can cache the stations on the device so you do not need to use any data while on the road in your car or at home.

    Re: Slacker Radio

One downside to slacker - no native iPad app. Pandora has a very nice one and I listen on my iPad much more than my phone. Until they make an iPad app, I am sticking with Pandora.

Actually, you can cache even with the unpaid version. You just are also caching the ads that the paid version doesn't have.
