It would be good to have someone with some pull to advocate for the University in these days of constant funding cuts for Universities. I think he would be a good fit, as long as he still has ambition and is dedicated to the job. I haven't heard anything to indicate he wouldn't be, just would make sure that after years of being Governor and in the U.S. Cabinet, that he wouldn't be taking the job while coasting into retirement.
Please Please No. ISU doesn't need to follow up a fantastic president with an incompetent fool
He did a solid job in his years as Governor and throughout his career and life. There is nothing at all that would lead a reasonable person to believe he is an incompetent fool (other than your obvious political bias).
I think TV would be a good choice (from an ISU sports fan's perspective) for the following reasons:
One, I believe that TV wants to replace Tom Harkin when he retires. Being ISU president would keep him in the public eye until that time comes. If that is the case, he wouldn't want to do anything to upset ISU sports fans (voters).
Second, he is not an academic elitist that some other candidates would be. They tend to look down at college athletics, and are the ones you have to worry about.
