Anyone still out there in this recruiting cycle?

So Grothus has committed to Iowa, and Pena is not coming to ISU. Does anyone have any idea how Jackson and crew are looking at spending the money? Are we just going to divide the money this year and push hard for a bigger splash next year? If we could get the whole Brandon class next year(Liberatore, Bruno, Clark) and Massa from Michigan, we would be in great shape, although one of those guys would likely be pressed into service early with holes we are not filling this year.

Re: Anyone still out there in this recruiting cycle?

I have a feeling this class is done. Now that Brown dropped wrestling Zach Tanenbaum from Kansas might be available, but since he chose a school like Brown (Ivy) I assume he wouldn't come to Iowa State. Ranked 113 overall recruit, projected weight 133. Also some Illinois kids, Cooper(#30), Akui(#17) and Tank Knowles of California(#40), Wilbourn(#38) of Missouri, Hodgkins(#13) of Pennsylvania. I assume there are grade issues with some of these kids. Some are probably going JUCO or DII or DIII and not reporting.

Somebody mentioned that KJ took alot of interest in watching Koethe out at Virginia Beach (I think) a couple weeks ago at that freestyle tourney. I think we are probably going to go after Jack Hathaway, since we got Garrett Hathaway to walk on next year. And then of course, Gabe Moreno.

Re: Anyone still out there in this recruiting cycle?

I assume not very high, since we lost Pena #34 (I think), only other recruit ranked in top 100 is Tanner Weatherman. Bo Schlosser might have been if he didn't get dismissed from Bettendorf wrestling team. I think we got some good talent, but not any blue chip recruits. Quean Smith will provide small needed depth at Hwt, since Kyle Simonson is questionable from knee surgery and Gibson never made grades 1st semester. Also heard Tyler Swope is walking on at Hwt.

I think this next year the state of Iowa has a lot of good small guys to get some good starters. Jack Hathaway, Eric Devos, Cory Clark, Dylan Peters, Jordan Bremer, Phil Laux. And in mid weight guys like Gabe Moreno and Zach Witte and upper weight guys like Justin Koethe, Willie Miklus, Joe Scanlan, and Alex Meyer. Lots in Iowa alone.

Then hope to get 1 or 2 of Bruno, Liberatore, and Massa all out state guys ranked #1 or #2 at their weight.
