5 from Big 12 in ESPN preseason poll

This is the first preseason poll I've seen for the 2011 college football season.

College Football Live released its inaugural rankings earlier today. Five teams from the Big 12 are included and Oklahoma is No. 1.

I'm not sure how Texas is included in this, other than the fact that they are Texas. Here's a look.

That's impossible. With nebraska leaving for the Big 10 I thought the Big 12 was going to curdle into the fetal position and give up.

FSU at #6? I'll believe that when I see it. Yes, I know they've recruited well recently and play in a weak conference, but I just have a hard time buying that hype.

Re: 5 from Big 12 in ESPN preseason poll

No 5-7 team should ever be preseason ranked the following year. Why is it that everyone thinks Texas is good, just because they're Texas? I think they will eventually get there, but let's see how they do against BYU first.

Texas should not be there at all! How can you have a team ranked from last season that was terrible and just base it off talent? This is one major problem I have with the BCS system. If one team beats the other, shouldn't they have the higher ranking? Same thing applies with Texas until they beat some teams this year, should not be ranked

Just another opportunity for Iowa State to knock the Longhorns out of the rankings.

It will be fun to watch how things go in Austin this year because after last season, they'll be trigger happy with the epic meltdowns.

After Rice, they get BYU, at UCLA and at Iowa State before the Red River Shootout. If they lose any of those three or lose more than one, Austin will be Chernobyl

Ooooh, I didn't realize we get them right before the Red River Shootout. That equals trap game for TX all the way. There's no way that they are going to be worried about us when they have the top ranked (or should be) Sooners the very next week.

What a great time to knock them off 2 years in a row!!
