Are there official offers from Texas, Baylor and Florida? Did he say to what extent they are recruiting him? Those are indeed some impressive schools...it's just hard to get a read on this guy. Dayton does not exactly seem like a power house program now all the sudden he's got Texas and Florida after him? Seems strange...hope we land him though.

Who do we want more: Henton or that Olu (is that right) guy? I would be stoked for either...

Yep, this thread has just been pwned.

    Not strange for basketball recruiting.
He has improved his game (expanded his perimeter skills this past season) and it is a seller's market.

He didn't mention the dreamy blue eyes. I'm worried.

Earlier article said his HS coach was relieved 'cause now Dontae could join a league where he could play up to his potential...

You got it. Many times spring recruits get their talent stock overrated due to high-major programs trying to fill open schollies from post-season attrition. It obviously happened with McKnight last spring. Time will tell if that's the case with Henton but last fall he did not have the high-major offers that he supposedly has now.

I guess the question is, do we want to win now or later?

Personally, I'd take the high school player. I'm not against the transfer strategy, but would like a few potential 4 year players in the system.

Texas will not be as picky as normal right now with a roster to fill late, so they could offer this kid.

    Due to improvement imo.
Did you checkout the game tape (first video)? He looked like a Big 12 small forward/wing guard in that video, not an undersized power forward as some programs were concerned he may have been in the fall. I think it gives credence to the report that he has been working on expanding his game.

As good of handle as Jake Anderson while being 6-5 215 and a really good looking shot.

    Both

Gibson too, if he's interested. (of course that would involve Railey "seeking other opportunities").

Re: Basketball Recruiting: LaDontae Henton visit recap

I get the feeling that this kid will play for Cornell Mann at any school. They have had a relationship since 7th grade and he decommits right when Cornell Mann leaves Dayton? No word on Hoiberg's NBA pitch yet, which every recruit so far has mentioned as part of their decision. It solely comes down to Cornell Mann and this has lock written all over it. The other visits are a formality, this will be official soon.

"Freddie knows the game," Bird said. "I'm sure he picked up a lot of stuff over the years from different people. College is different from the NBA, but I'm sure he'll do a great job."
