I can't believe they didn't even call Frank Martin. I think he would have left in a heartbeat.

And Larranaga is already 61 years old. Strange hire IMO.

He was practically begging for the job and doing it publicly.

If Frank Martin really wanted that job it really doesn't make any sense why he didn't get it.

It has been reported that Miami did not even contact him because they were concerned with his salary (which he actually addressed saying it wasn't as high as they thought it was) and his sideline demeanor.

They could have had a proven winner and they chose not to even explore it.

I would say they got a proven winner, albeit one who is much closer to retirement age.

Good point. Larranaga has done it for a sustained period of time too. I should have said a proven BCS-winner.

Larranaga may do well there...I'm not saying its a bad hire. I'm just puzzled why they didn't even contact Martin.

Re: George Mason coach leaving for Miami

How did they land this guy if U of Miami (FL) supposedly has the some the worst MBB facilities of any BCS team per some postings of some Mizzou CF members? Did the AD there promise an immediate upgrade? I don't see how Larranaga will be able to recruit well there w/o an upgrade if those facilities are as bad as claimed by some.

    P.J. Farmer rocks!
