    Anyone concerned with Rhoads' salary?

After seeing Navy reaching a long term extension with Ken Niumatalolo for $1.5 million per year, I got to thinking about Rhoads' salary. He is vastly underpaid for his performance in 2 years at Iowa State in my opinion.

If continues to have moderate success at ISU, maybe this isn't an issue. But one breakout year and he is going to have schools after him if we don't seriously increase his pay.

Here is a list of coaching salaries from 2010.

Salary analysis of 2010 Football Bowl Subdivision coaches - USATODAY.com

When SMU is paying $2+ million, KU paying $2.1 million, Duke $1.6 million, Hawaii $1.1 million, and we are paying Rhoads $1.05 million...I think that's a joke.

Rhoads is one of the lowest paid BCS coaches in the country and MANY non-BCS coaches make well above his salary.

We offered Chizik extensions and raises for his junk performance, its time to pay Rhoads what he deserves.

Hopefully at least a million of the new TV money will be in Rhoads' pocket.

I don't think Rhoads is underpaid at this point. I'd say those coaches are overpaid if anything. I mean, Gill, $2.1MM, really??

I'm fairly confident based on what i've heard from the boosters more influential than I am that there is a good plan in place by the AD for coach retention.

Re: Anyone concerned with Rhoads' salary?

At this point no, not concerned at all. When you look at the resources ISU has available, and compare that to performance, I think its a fair salary. If he has a "breakout year", I could see something very similar to the Matt Painter situation at Purdue this year. Fans will need to step up if they want to see Rhaods salary increased.

Overpaid based on performance? Absolutely. Overpaid based on what the market will bear? Nope. I mean, Ferentz, $3+MM, really?

Call me crazy, but how millions of dollars do you need to pay a coach to play a game. I am as big of a college football fan as you can find, but college football has become big business instead of a collegiate game. Take Joe Paterno for example. He is the best football coach to grace NCAA football and the man makes like 400K. The true problem isn't that rhoads isn't paid enough, other coaches are getting paid way to much! imo I will get off my soapbox now.

I think Rhoads is the guy that would rather have better paid assistants and a new Football facility than a couple hundred thousand $.

When and if Rhoads ever beats Iowa I will then think about giving him a pay raise.

I think that as long as JP is putting money into the facilitiy improvements that Rhoads wants, he'll not push too hard on salary.

The bowl game? The wins at Nebraska and Texas? Those don't mean anything?

Unless you did in fact mean to use Its too early in the morning for me to detect sarcasm without him being there.

Here's what should happen - the Cyclone Club should send out a mailing over the summer (after the annual renewals are in) requesting a donation to a special "Coach Retention" fund. $100 times 10,000 members = $1M!!! Problem solved.

Rhoads wants fans in the stands...he has said it MULTIPLE times. If it bears repeating, it is not being heard.
