    4/19/11- Late Spring snowstorm

I was skeptical of this system but it's proving me wrong. Had some thundersnow this morning and have 1-2 inches of heavy wet slush on grass and roads.

Late spring? You do realize as of right now we're not even a month into spring, so I'm not computing how it's "late spring". A late spring snowstorm would be one that occurs in June...

Meteorological spring begins March 1 and runs thru May. Still perhaps a touch of an overstatement on my part but April 19th is closer to June 1st than it is to March 1st.

Not a snowSTORM, either. So unlike a meteorologist to overstate things.

If your north of Highway 20 it is, along the border 4-6 is predicted and I measured outside my house(a few miles north of Fort Dodge) and we have just under 2 inches currently.

I'd fully accept the "mid-spring snow storm (or shower, or whatever)" terminology...

    Re: 4/19/11- Late Spring snowstorm

I had work scheduled in NE Iowa this morning. Started out from Ames at 8:00 driving 65 on 35 due to heavy rain. Just north of Ellsworth exit slush started forming and people were going into the ditch. Then, heavy snow started falling. Semi hit the back of an SUV and tore off a chunk. I was driving 35-40 MPH and still sliding a bit. Decided to turn around as I was going to be very late for my meeting at this point driving this slow.

It felt like a January/February storm without the extreme cold.

    There was one?
