    Re: Toyota Corolla

I owned a Corolla. Great ventilation, the rust ate all the way though the door about half way up. It did have over 230k on it when I took it to the junk yard. It was also a '92

    Re: Toyota Corolla

Our family has one. Dad has a Corolla (2005?). He likes it. We don't take it on long road trips, but he did drive it down to Iowa City when I was at school. One thing that does suck, at least with ours, is that something (likely close to the windshield, such as the wipers, or something that is blade like) makes a very high pitched noise when we hit 70mph. Like literally at 70. Whatever it is, vibrates when the air around it hits a certain velocity.

Actually, I think others have noticed it too...

Personally, I like our other car, which is a 2000 Camry. The thing is a beast!

06 is what Im looking at getting too. My parents have had really good luck with Camry's, but the Corolla is a bit cheaper so thats why Im leaning towards a Corolla

She bought it new and we have had zero issues. Only thing we had was under warranty and even if it wasn't, it was nothing big at all.

    Re: Toyota Corolla

I bought a new one in 1989. It was the best car that I have ever owned. I paid $9700 outright for it in Mason City. It was not the top of the line model, however, it did have air and a five speed transmission. I drove it to different school districts that I worked for at the time and put 100,000 miles on it getting about 38 miles to the gallon. I traded it in for a one-year old Camaro in 1995 for my wife who was celebrating being cancer free for five years. I got $8000 in trade for it and it was sold the very next day. Sadly my wife died six weeks ago from stage IV breast cancer. You will never go wrong buying a Corolla. If anything I would buy one that has some bells and whistles on it. You will never be sorry that you did.

    Re: Toyota Corolla

just got a new one for my wife (11)--an "S" for sport. Getting 35-36 mpg. She had a camry. this may not be quite as smooth riding but better gas milage expect not so good on interstate going 85. Surprised how much leg room there is in the front although not much for back seat. trunk is quite a bit smaller but OK for 2 or 3 people and luggage. so far happy with it, nice looking (relatively so)

    Re: Toyota Corolla

On the '10 corolla the on thing that angers me is the light sensor is not sensitive enough to not trust the auotmatic lights and if you ever idle the corolla for whatever reason when its dark out there no way to turn off the lights.

I have an '01 ... got it used in '05 w/ really low mileage. Very reliable -- I've gone through a lot of tires for some reason (compared to # of miles I've driven) but very little other maintenance, knock on wood. Happy with the gas mileage

It's not like riding in a cadillac and it doesn't look like a Ferrari, but it's the best car I've owned. I'm past the impress-people stage, so I'd drive it for another 20 years if I could.

    Re: Toyota Corolla

Do some research before you buy. If you are buying new, most car exports agree that there are many better choices in the class. Take it for what it is worth, but with few expections, they prefer the 2011 Fiesta, Cruze, Elantra, and Mazda 3.

Can't speak to an '06, but my brother in law has a 2010 S and really likes it.

If you're getting the 2006, I would seriously tell you to think about this noise at 70+mph. I had never really bothered to look it up, but it seems to be a problem that folks have been having...

Screaching/Howling Wind Noise on 2006 Toyota Corolla

It's not anything as bad as cars that don't stop, but it is annoying. Very annoying.

    Re: Toyota Corolla

I bought a '06 Corolla LE a couple of years ago. LOVE IT. Great car, and I highly recommend it. I haven't had any issues with it and it gets great gas mileage (important nowadays with the price of gas going up so steeply). Unlike others I haven't noticed any sort of noise when I've had it at 70 mph. Very smooth, great turning radius, plenty of space.

I would give it three thumbs up if I could.
