    Freshmen making an impact?

All we have been able to talk about are the players who are already here and that competed in spring ball. Which if any Freshmen that will not be here until summer do you guys feel can make an impact this year?

The position where someone could come in and make the biggest impact would probably be WR.

Im going to guess maybe Brackens at safety since we seem to be thin at that position

Jarvis West is going to make a big impact on or offense and special teams

My guess will be Brundage at wide receiver.

    Re: Freshmen making an impact?

True freshmen: Jevon Miller, Slight chance of Nealy (although I think he might redshirt), at DE possibly Irving just because of his size, and finally Pompey at DT, again because of his size

    They could all redshirt though.

RS Freshmen: Farniok, Jarvis West, Duran Hollis, Jared Barnett

I think Bundrage will be in the 2 deeps almost immediately.

    Re: Freshmen making an impact?

Wasn't Lampkin told he was gonna be on special teams? I could see him getting playing time there.

Jevohn Miller will likely play special teams. I could see Irving getting in. Brackens seems like he's already filled out could play some. Pompey might play, It depends on if he's better than Simon.

I would say Ecby has a better chance of playing than Bundrage. Bundrage is rail thin.

Another player in this class that will likely play is Ernst Brun. A good recieving TE.

    Re: Freshmen making an impact?

    Ecby and Nealy on offense.

Miller and Brackens on defense/special teams. You probably will not see Brackens start at safety on day one. Too much to learn about the D. Doesn't mean he can't contribute elsewhere though.

    Re: Freshmen making an impact?

I think that Pompey will play. Miller is going to be on every special team and play enough LB to give Knott a series or two off a game. I hope that they can redshirt the rest of the FR, but I could see Lampkin as a gunner on coverage and possibly a KOR guy. I could also see someone like Brackens getting in on special teams and getting some reps at SS.

    Re: Freshmen making an impact?

I like Ecby too, but he's no bigger than Brundage with both listed at 180, though Brundage is an inch taller at 6-2. That's thin but not super thin for a young receiver and if he's up to 190 by the fall, that's decent size.

Disagree a little bit. I think the biggest place a freshman can make an impact is in the secondary, either at safety to let Benton move back to corner or nickle so we have better depth there, or at CB. As it is, I think we only have two CBs I'm comfortable with if Benton is at safety/nickle. We need someone else as a backup. if the safeties are as bad as everyone says, maybe we need a freshman to step up at both CB and safety for depth if nothing else.
