BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Texas A&M offers Okoro

Just spoke to 2012 Iowa State MBB target Nkereuwem Okoro. He told me that Texas A&M jumped in the mix and offered him last week.

Okoro now holds offers from Iowa State, Arizona, Texas A&M and Seton Hall among other schools that he isn't considering.

He is still high on Pitt, who hasn't offered yet.

Nice to know our recruits are sought after. I hope we can come out firing this season. I think we have a good chance to jump A/M this year, and that can only help.

Fred should say, "Do you want Calvin Godfrey posterizing you constantly in 2 games a year?"

I think we do have the potential to be a better basketball team than A&M in the next few years. I hope Okoro realizes this as well?

    I hope he comes here.

CW's post makes me wonder if he's waiting for a Pitt offer, and anyone else is in 2nd or a distant second.

But I really don't know. I'm just curious.

A&M doesn't push the pace like we will.

I think we got one big advantage over Pitt.

They play freaking fugly grind-it-out basketball. That's not what we have planned for our style.

that is Big East country and most of those kids end up being a fan of one of those schools. His high school coach, Oliver Antigua is a Pitt alum. Antigua's brother, Orlando also a Pitt alum is Calipari's asst coach at Kentucky.

Right now spring AAU is going on most every weekend, coaches can not go to these events, they can go and watch the recruits/teams work out/practice in their high school gyms. I am not sure if a guy like Cornell Mann is still under contract with Dayton or if unemployed can go and watch these events. this can be a perk in delaying hiring a new asst, they are not subject to NCAA rules.

July AAU is where coaches can get out and watch these games, you want a full staff by then.
