Release: Cyclones Sign Belgium Native Julie Vanloo

    Per Iowa State Athletic Communications

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly announced Wednesday the signing of Belgium prep Julie Vanloo to a National Letter of Intent. Vanloo joins the 2011-12 class as the fifth signee.

The 5-7 guard has been a member of Belgium’s Youth National Teams for the past four years. Honestly, this is the best class we have ever signed. Awesome job BF and crew! Though our current sophomore class(rated in the top 25 that year) was really strong too. Mred, do you recall any other standout classes?

How about the Tracy Gahan, Angie Welle class.

Not sure what they rantked before ISU, but they sure performed while they were here.

Does this use up our full allotment of scholarships? If so, this is the first time for a while that we have used them all.

Re: Release: Cyclones Sign Belgium Native Julie Vanloo

It leaves one open. And possibly two (Elly was a walk-on who BF gave one for last season). Possible we could add another juco yet, but doubt anything else, so my guess is we are done.

Now next year we have only two seniors, so my hunch is Elly will get scholly this year, but maybe not the following year depending on if there are any transfers or if JV doesn't make it to campus.

Thanks for the info. It will be nice to see a few more bodies on the bench next year.

I don't think we have to worry about this. The NCAA isn't nearly as strict in rules enforcement when it comes to women's basketball. Hell... the NCAA let Baylor have that dude Brian Griner play on their women's team so we should be fine.

reports have her more the line of an Aus here she can take it to the hole.
just remember that it would be August probably before she decides and definitely before she would get on campus. BF is just the right person to be on this.
team really becoming more athletic each year. of course it has to be to keep up with Baylor and A&M and the push that KU has with their recruits and MU has ratcheted up their sites
