    College World Series

We're planning a bachelor party weekend in Omaha for the first weekend of the College World Series. There are many details TBD, most importantly tickets and hotels, but I wanted to get some feedback from people who have been there.

Where do you recommend we stay? From what little research we've done, lots of rooms nearby are booked already. Can we expect to get tickets for that first Saturday?

    Any feedback is helpful.

Staying in council buffs would be a good option. You should be able to get tickets to whatever game you want but it might be a little bit more difficult than in the past with the new stadium.

There are probably a lot of unknowns this year with the new stadium. Tickets are usually easy to get the day of the game (if you are willing to wait in line), because teams typically don't sell their entire allotment. You can always get GA tickets too. Lots of info on the CWS website. NCAA Men's College World Series 2011

    Re: College World Series

CWS is one of my favorite things every year, but with the new stadium i think it will be a whole new experience. Getting tickets is usually not difficult, especially after teams start losing.

The past couple years we partied with strippers all weekend as they walk around handing out flyers!

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Dont plan on or try parking anywhere near the stadium. If you can stay anywhere downtown you can walk and there will also be a circulator bus running. Many people also operate shuttles.

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

I have a different take. Buy your tickets asap. The first Saturday will be overloaded. This first year will fill fast. I like Embassy Suites next to Con Agra. Breakfast and drinks in evening. Book now.

Why wait to buy if you know you are coming?

I don't know if I have ever paid for CWS tickets in the 7 years I've lived in Omaha. Somebody always offers me tickets or some friends have some that were given to them. A lot of businesses/vendors toss around CWS tickets in Omaha like candy.

We know we're coming. We don't know how many. And from what little checking we've had time to do, lots of stuff is booked up already.

Same here. I lived in Omaha for five years and only a handful of times did I have to pay for tickets, and those were dirt cheap. It's very similar to conference tournaments, once one team is out the market is flooded with tickets that nobody wants.

    Re: College World Series

    FYI.

The advance sale of individual reserved seat tickets has been eliminated this year. Starting in May, season-ticket holders may sell or transfer their reserved seats to friends, family members or buyers through Flash Seats®, which is a marketplace endorsed by the NCAA and supported by the Veritix® secondary ticketing platform.

    Re: College World Series

I agree with earlier posts that this year has a lot of unknowns. Staying downtown would be the most fun option, since the stadium is there and all the bars/restaurants in the Old Market. You could leave your car parked the whole time. I'm guessing the first weekend will be tough to get tickets, and expensive to stay in hotels. You could probably stay in some hotels farther away, the bus system isn't bad as long as you have a stop closeby, but if you party late they will stop running and you'll have to get a cab, which I would guess will be near impossible then. Have fun! I'd like to go back to OTown for this....

Harrah's casino is just right across the river in C.B. I would think there would be rooms available there, or at Ameristar. They will probably have shuttle buses running throughout the day

I just booked some rooms at the Best Western Seville Plaza, about 1.5 miles west of the stadium. It's the best I could find at a reasonable rate. And I can cancel rooms we don't need, which is nice since our numbers are uncertain.

    Re: College World Series

That hotel should be fine. It is just west of Creighton University and Medical Center which is just west of the stadium. You may still have to take a cab to the stadium or old market area for drinks and eats as they aren't many "good" walking routes from that hotel to the stadium.

Personally if I were you, I would have just gone ahead and stayed in CB or a little farther west and found a hotel in a little nicer area. I'm sure things will be fine at that hotel but it is right off of I-480 and is in a little sketchier area than true "downtown" or the old market.

I will be interested to see what this downtown **** show will look like. But it's bound to be a good time!! Hopefully I'll run into ya down there, it's always nice to get some glimpses of sanity over here in the land that time forgot!
