I wouldn't be shocked if Miller ends up starting in the middle at some point this year

Who is the big catcher (I think TE) #35 who was running over defenders in the bubble screen drill?

Sounds like the coaching staff found a gem in Miller. Considering that linebacker is a position where we actually have decent depth, having him crack the two deeps as a true freshman is impressive.

Another impressive thing about the LB's is Jeremiah George coming in at 222lbs. I believe he was sub 200 when he got here. That's hitting the weight room. Hope he blows up this year.

No way they can keep him off the field. I know Wally talked of redshirting him but with how he has progressed already this spring I just don't see how they can.

    Re: UPDATED Depth Chart

Not sure what to make of the Juco's who redshirted last year still being a ways down the depth chart. Nelson, Givins off the top of my head. Caspers is Hicks immediate back-up though.

Perhaps some of the 4 and 5 year players are better than expected right now. Also appears Nelson is a 1 trick pony...I'm sure he'll see the field this fall with a defined role of some sort.

Regardless, having those 3 stay with the team and provide depth the next two season will be a positive.

I'm surprised to see that Tiller has cracked the 3 deeps at wide receiver yet?!?

#35 Vince Ewald. I have yet to figure out why he isn't one of the names being tossed around for Franklin's replacement.

    Re: UPDATED Depth Chart

The hype for Jansen Watson appears to be just that. I thought he would be backing up Reeves, but Thomas is in there. All in all this team is going to look very similar to last years group, and that doesn't really make me feel great. We were very sporadic on offense, and I was hoping to see the young blood appear at the WR spots, but it is basically all the returners. Depth is good, but we need players better than what we had if we want to move up. I am not seeing that according to this chart.

Ernst Bun was a 2011 JUCO committ. Does he not arrive at ISU until august?

I thought Watson was a safety. He looks like he could be a 2 year starter for us. Benton and Brooks graduate after this year and he could be next in line.

The downside to Spring football is that I begin getting too excited, and then still have to wait for over 4 months for kickoff.

The interviews with Rhoads said that Watson may be our most athletic player on the team. That, and his slighter size, suggested CB to me, especially since we will need CBs next year.

The player who I am impressed with is Tuftee on this list. He was a forgotten man by most posters here, but he took that ISU offer seriously, and is beating out a JUCO guard in Caspers that everyone thought would start last year.
