    Blackhawks

Looks like the defending Stanley Cup champs are gonna need some help from the Wild just to get into the playoffs this year.

    Dear Chicago Bears,

Please take lessons from the Detroit Red Wings on how to eliminate your arch-rival from the playoffs in the last regular season game of the year.

As a Blues fan, I still can't get over that our ex-coach Quenneville led Chicago to the title last year.
As this year has proven, that was a fluke.

Black Hawks won 7 playoff series in 2 years under Quenneville, as opposed to the Blues winning 5 playoff series in 8 years under Q.

Continue to call it a fluke if it really makes you feel better.

Then you'd better inform tons of your fellow Black Hawk fans of how good of a coach he is - there's been LOTS of ripping on Quenneville this season, and it will only intensify if they completely miss the playoffs...

Fluke? They had to dump some very important members of that team due to the hard cap. Byfuglien, Versteeg, Ladd, Sopel, Niemi...

They'll be back, the core is locked in for years and they have loads of young talent coming up.

Agreed, just some tough injuries and a bouncing puck away from being in a much better situation right now. Hope the Wild win tonight!

Those fans need to realize that of the 31 guys that played in a game last year for the Black Hawks, 17 (or 55%) are playing elsewhere this year. This was a different, younger Black Hawks team because of salary cap reasons.

    Re: Blackhawks

Anyone who thinks the Blackhawks have remotely the same roster as their championship team hasn't been paying attention.

Are you seriously attributing Chicago's chance of missing the playoffs to their "roster?" Please. They weren't picked to repeat, but they were still tabbed to be one of the top teams in the west. Their two best players, and cornerstones of the team - Kane and Toews - are still there.
If the Stars win tonight, this has simply been a horrific season for the Hawks. If you think not, you haven't been paying attention.

    Re: Blackhawks

You mean the Blackhawks aren't threatening the Blues record 25-years of qualifying for the playoffs? Or that the Blackhawks won't be appearing in three consecutive Stanley Cup finals like the Blues have?

If the Blues could just win it all of these years, it would be the capping achievement of a traditionally successful franchise.
