Sounds like Tiller will most likely be #1 going into summer ball.

Doesn't sound like Jerome has done anything bad to lose his spot, and it also doesn't sound like anyone else has done enough to over take him either.

Obviously there is still a week to go, but I don't see him losing his #1 spot.

Of course, most people will take this as a really bad sign, and I would agree to some point, but maybe Tiller has improved more than we thought he would as Tom Herman stated.

I too was hoping that someone would emerge that would be better at QB than Tiller, but we might have to start realizing that Tiller might just be the best we have? I just hope it's good enough to win.

Tiller has been in the offense longer too.

accuracy should be the #1 attribute to look for. We know Tiller can run...all indications point to Jantz and Capello are very mobile too, but we need someone who can improve upon Arnaud's completion percentage. The strongest thrower is not necessarily gonna be the best QB for our system. Really gonna be exciting to watch this competition. 1 week until spring game!

This does not come as a surprise. One cannot expect a juco to come in and in a few months be competing for the #1 spot. The competition really starts this fall.

Correct. It really isn't fair to expect a whole lot out of Jantz since he's only been here a few months, but I'm just saying that it sounds like right now nobody has stepped up enough to grab the spot away from Jerome.

It sounds like all of our QB's have no problem running the ball, we just need to find someone that can get the ball to the WR's quickly and on target. That's why I'm not sure I would count out James Capello yet. He might be the most accurate passer of all of them right now?

All I know is that I'm going to be disgusted if out of 4 QB's we don't have even ONE that can pass the ball effectively. Our offense will not work without a passing game. Someone has to step up!

Re: Sounds like Tiller will most likely be #1 going into summer ball.

Arnaud was never a world beater at QB, and ISU could compete against most teams with him on the field. If Tiller improves a bit as a passer, then defenses will have to respect him throwing more and the run lanes should open up a bit. Tiller has never really gotten loose as a runner...which he needs to do to be a better player.

In defense of AA, he had a pretty solid Big 12 season though, so Tiller does has some big shoes to fill as a leader. AA's TD to INT ratio vs the B12 last year was 10-3, so as a senior he really put it together much better than before.

We've yet to really see Herman design many plays for Tiller as a runner. Considering he is a vastly different athlete than AA, I can guess if he takes over full time those type of plays will get implemented into the offense, which just might not have been in the playbook when AA ran the show.

Barring injury, I feel good that the defense will improve quite a bit and the offense won't have to be all that amazing to win some games key games.

Sorry to crap on everyone but if Tiller is the #1 QB for the season I hope you can all stomach a 1 or 2 win season.

Completely agree. I expect Jantz to be the starter for the 1st game of the season.

Re: Sounds like Tiller will most likely be #1 going into summer ball.

Waaay too early to be reaching any conclusions at this point for several reasons:

    1. Jantz has only been in the system for a few weeks while everyone else has a head start. His room for improvement is greater than for the other QB's and I expect a huge jump in his performance by the time Fall practice starts.

    2. Practice is not necessarily a good indicator of game time performance. The one who shows the most in an actual game situation will have a leg up.

    3. I expect both of the top two QB candidates, whoever they are in the Fall, to play in the UNI game. I expect the best performer to get the nod for the Iowa game.

Why? What has Jantz done to make everyone think that he is going to lead us to the promised land? The way he was hyped on this board you woulda thought the job would be his by now and Tiller on his way transferring to Texas-San Antonio or something.

When Arnaud was the quarterback all we did was beg for Tiller, now when Tiller looks like he might be the guy we are begging for Jantz before a down has been played.

Unless he as improved BIG TIME......... I don't like the sound of this.

Ok not all of us, but there was a very vocal group on this board begging for him, that one can't argue.
