    Boylen, Clyburn, and ISU

Hey Chris, any chance former Utes coach Jim Boylen could end up as the new assistant coach? He is a guy with NBA experience and recruited the state of Michigan under Izzo. Seems like he would be in a similar situation as Lutz was last year and would fit into what Fred was trying to do when he first got the job---initially hiring Grayer for that Michigan pipeline. I can't see any reason how this would be a bad thing since he can't take a head coaching spot anywhere plus Clyburn stated he wanted to only play for Boylen.

It would most likely depend on how much money he wants.

    Re: Boylen, Clyburn, and ISU

He got a 2 million dollar buyout iirc and thats just so he isn't a head coach. I imagine that he could make decent money here and leave after two years (when Clyburn is done) for another job in the NBA or whatever. It is a win win for everybody

Mark Montgomery left Izzo's staff to become head coach at Northern Illinois. Boylen could be a favorite to get back on Izzo's staff to replace him.

**** Michigan State. Even if he did end up there he would probably transfer to ISU after 3 years

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd

Just skip the middle man and go straight to ISU. That's what I would do.

I think you're on the right track, but let me ask a question for discussion's sake.

Is it smarter for him to come straight to ISU, his ultimate destination, or to go to Michigan State for a year or two in order to go ahead and scout the future Cyclones that program will produce?

I could see it either way. We have a pipeline to East Lansing right now, so maybe we don't need him to be our connection up there. Or maybe it would help even more.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
