    The Jack Trice Story

When does this get made into a movie? I'd love to see some ISU boosters get together to help get this thing produced. And if it is done right, it could do more to help ISU's football program than just about anything else we could do.

ISU only I-A school to honor African-American in stadium name - ESPN

Trice has been the subject of a play and there have been talks about a movie about his life. But the most fitting memorial comes when the Cyclones play in a stadium named in his honor.
If we have to wait for ISU to become a powerhouse in football before the movie is made, it might not ever get done.

It's got all the makings for an uplifting, good-feeling movie. I could see Ron Howard directing. Denzel as Jack.

I'm so proud ISU has this distinction; and to think it was vehemently opposed by some at the time.

Denzel might be a bit old for that part now. ;)

Disney might want to do it but it could be difficult as the story doesn't have a "feel good" ending. Plus we don't have a history as a successful football team.

    Neither does Marshall.

I think the ISU student body's reaction to the event (both in 1923 and in 1974) represents the "feel good" ending. Honoring Jack Trice in the way we did is noteworthy.

    Yeah, but:

    1. Pretty much their entire football team died.

    2. When the movie was being filmed/released, they were "THE" mid-major football team just a few years previously.

This is a great video, and very detailed about Trice

The odd thing is that he's referred to as John Trice by his mother in a letter to the ISU president at the time of his death.

Jack is a nickname for John, like Richard-Dick, Henry-Hank, Charles-Chuck, etc.

That's because his name was John Trice - but he went by Jack.
