    Need landscape vendor recommendation

Have a small job I need done and don't have time to do. Just some rock/edge work around the rest of our house and under deck. The front of the house was done when we built it - just need to finish it off this spring. I do not need lawn care services.

In the past we've had bad luck with landscape vendors and I'm looking for recommendations. Thx!

Very happy with Country Landscapes, but they are pricey. In exchange for paying a premium, you get to work with folks that speak English. It was worth it for me.

Whatever you do, do NOT hire Loki's Garden. We used them last summer to plant up our front yard. They came at us in July with this elaborate proposal and actually got the majority of it in the ground in late October. During that four month time span, we tried to contact them several times to see what kind of progress was being made on getting in the plants we ordered, and we never once heard back. Then they just showed up on a random October afternoon and did the job. The end results look promising, but their communication was beyond atrocious.

Country Landscapes does ok work but their "lifetime" warranty is a joke. We bought based on this guarantee but after 10 years they backed off....said they needed more money to fix the work that was sold with a lifetime warranty.

    Re: Need landscape vendor recommendation

Dito the earlier comment on Country Landscapes. I haven't ever heard that they've done a bad job--I have only heard that they're pricey. Anyone see a connection?

I have also heard a lot of good things about:

Home: Landscapes by Design : Landscape design, installation, and maintenance for Des Moines, Iowa and surrounding communities.

They are located in Slater. The owner is originally from Northern Iowa.

I worked for Capital Landscaping this past summer in Des Moines and would recommended them.

    Thumbs down:

    • Iowa Outdoor Products -- they are the "experts" and you are stupid and ignorant.
    • Al Carey - Cheap products and laborers who barely know what they're doing.
    • Earl May - Might as well go to Hy Vee

    Thumbs Up:

    • Country Landscapes - Yep they're pricey, but their design work is really good and they'll actually listen to you. Specialties are trees and hardscapes.
    • TNT - Used them for a couple smaller jobs. They were responsive and quick. They did start an edging with the wrong material once, but one phone call to the foreman and problem solved.

Sounds like your lazy. Do it yourself, I dont understand why people would not want to take care of there own landscape.

Dude said he doesn't have time. And since it's his money, afaik he can spend it however he wants.

Try Green Bean, LLC. It's a landscaping company owned and operated by an ISU Grad in LA. His email is zacharyheitzman@yahoo.com

It's not that time consuming, and you are right I dont care how he wastes his money.

I've only heard good things about A+ Lawn and Landscape and I would imagine their prices are competitive.

Monica Heilman used to work at country landscapes, the choice is clear.

I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story.

Yup, I highly recommend anyone not using Al Carey. Completely horrible experience both with the service and finished product.

    Appreciated all the suggestions!
