Anyone think Mizzou might hire Shaka??

VCU plays similar to the way Anderson had Mizzou playing. I think Shaka could walk in and keep it rolling. Seems like a good fit.

Alford appears to be the hot name on Tigerboard right now

Either Mizzou or NC State is going to overpay for him. I would be very wary of hiring him though. One great tournament run does not make a great coach.

He said he wants to stay at VCU...not saying that was a final word. Who knows what he'll say if someone offers him a lot of money.

I think Shaka has to jump to a major school after this. Loyalty is a great quality, but it's really hard to pass up the chance to set yourself for life like taking an ACC or B12 job would. Shake makes like $350k right now, even if VCU doubles that he would still be able to make twice as much at NC State.

Also, while this was a great run by VCU, it was pretty fluky. VCU outperformed their regular season offensive and defensive efficiency numbers by so much in this tournament, that its hard to really attribute it to coaching as opposed to a team just getting incredibly hot. With VCU losing Skeen, Nixon and Rodriguez there's a chance they could fall off considerably next season. NC State is not a bad job, I don't see how he could say no to that job if they offer it to him.

Which he will continue saying, up until the day he leaves.

Mizzou will give the job to anyone that beats Kansas in the tourney, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I sure hope they do. To hire a guy based on one year's tournament success is reckless.

And this is coming from a fan of a school that hired a former player with no head coaching experience.

Hey he is 1-0 vs KU. That alone should get him the gig.

Re: Anyone think Mizzou might hire Shaka??

Hiring a guy after a great season is risky (see Keno Davis), but I really do think Shaka is going to be a good coach. Remember VCU won the CBI in his first year. That's not a great accomplishment, but it shows you he has gotten his team ready for a tournament two years in a row.

I hope he stays at VCU. I don't think this will be his last chance at a big job and I don't think he thinks so either. Hell, the last 2 coaches at VCU ended up with great jobs and they didn't make a final 4 run.

Re: Anyone think Mizzou might hire Shaka??

Shaka is from Madison and I can see him replacing Bo Ryan in about 2-3 years. Would he jump from a 2 year Missouri job to go 'back home' like Mike Anderson did? Something MU has to be thinking about.
