    Steve Loney/Drake

No smack here but a nice article. Every time he was at ISU we had some great O lines.

The guy is a good on field coach in college...didn't make it as OC in the Pros.

    Re: Steve Loney/Drake

For Drake's sake, I hope they can hold onto him. Not sure they can though. He is too good of a coach for Div. III. It seems to me that ISU's success under Mac were closely tied to years when Loney was here.

    Drake is FCS, not D3.

Consider me officially on the Drake bandwagon! I always liked Loney. I think Loney was a huge hire for Drake, and I won't be surprised to see them make a little noise this year. I'm thrilled to have Chizik, but I wouldn't have been disappointed if we hired Loney.

Loney is only coaching for a year or two until a full time coach is hired. He has said this is only as a favor.

    Re: Steve Loney/Drake

No one argues with Loney as a coach...the name of the game is recruiting in D-1, and hopefully Chizik and company have the connections. We are counting on that.

    Re: Steve Loney/Drake

This will be Loney's only year at Drake. Probably the biggest win in Drake football in the last 30 years or more and on his first game. I'm going to go to a few games when ISU isn't playing at home.

Recruiting and coaching are both equally important. A perfect example would be Illinois football.

In Eastern Iowa we get that pinnacle of sports knowledge, Tim McCarver, instead, when the show is supposed to be on Fox.
