    Could he walkon here?

    Tyler Harmeyer - Weightlifting

Has a pretty good high light reel, definitely a project but saw that he squats almost 600 pounds and can put 225 up on bench 25 times thats pretty impressive could develop him into a monster..thoughts?

    Re: Could he walkon here?

Cool website he's got there. I doubt that he's really 6'2 or that he runs a 5.1, but I'd love to see a kid like that get a preferred walk-on spot at ISU. At least he would give the 3rd/4th string OLs a battle. It seems like most of the DTs that deep on the depth chart are like 6'1 225. Harmeyer, by the time he was a SR, would probably give a better showing as a backup DL than an undersized Taylor Mansfield did last fall.

Thats what i thought, and I went to a couple Dowling games this year as I'm a dowling alum and was always impressed with Harmeyer, and i do bet he is 6,2 which is a pretty good height..He has a very quick motor and looks like he really knows how to use his hands that seems to be his biggest strength is getting off blocks..Not sure though his weightlifting numbers are very impressive for only being 18, i dont know any 18 year old that can bench 400 pounds

    Re: Could he walkon here?

The kid just doesn't look like he's that tall. When he gets out in the open field, his lack of speed is exposed. Still, he's not too slow off the ball and uses his strength well to shed blockers. I wonder what kind of offers he's sitting on. Preferred walk-ons at 1A schools and some financial aid packages at D2 and D3 schools? You'd think that JUCOs like ICCC and IWCC would be all over this kid.

He only got it 24 by my count. That's false advertising.

We had a heavyweight wrestler for my high school who ended wrestling for UNI who could bench 400+ in high school.

    Re: Could he walkon here?

    He's a legit 6'2, I would assume the 5.1 is a hand-timed 40.
Tyler started for the first time this year on Varsity and was a key part of our defense. IWCC has done a good job of prepping kids for college ball. I would love to see him in Ames, but at this point, I think a UNI or a NWMSU is more realistic.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.
