    How does UConn do it?

They have a good chance of winning two NCAA basketball national championships in the same year (men's and women's). And, if I recall, this wouldn't even be the first time, as I think they did that once before. We have a hard enough time having two teams with winning records at the same time.

In mens, a combination of good history, good players, and cheating.

In womens, a lack of competition

It's true, they did. I remember how unfair I felt that was.

To answer how they do it, their women's team is a powerhouse. As much as I don't like him, Geno is great at what he does, and in a game that's so top heavy for talent, it's pretty easy to stay on top. For Calhoun, he's a good coach. Has good players, and they know how to win games. I won't get into the violations he's had and how he probably walks the line from time to time, but he gets results...

teams like that have an attitude that they are going to win every game

for comparison, perhaps you played on a team in high school that was like that?

The UCONN women are definitely a powerhouse. 15 of the 28 championships played have been won by either UCONN or Tennessee (and 11 of the past 15).

The men's program is just pretty good. But when your women's team is as good as UCONN's, then all it takes is a special player or two (see: Kemba Walker, Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon) for the men to double up. The women are a constant.

They both recruit top 10 tier talent. It's not too shocking to me.

Winning tends to build on itself. Top-tier teams reload a hell of a lot faster.

Re: How does UConn do it?

Geno and UCONN are iconic in women's basketball. They can cherry pick from the best talent in the country and take who they want. Plus each year to win the title, they only have to beat about 2 or 3 teams that are at their level.

With the men, Calhoun isn't squeaky clean but he's a good coach. Two national titles and four Final Fours since 1999, plus they put guys in the NBA.
