Chris, I have to completely disagree about Tiller winning QB spot

Chris, I like listening to you on the radio but I have to completely disagree with you that Jerome Tiller winning the starting QB spot is the best postion for ISU. I think it tells you this will be a disastrous season. I iam guessing you are saying he would have a leg up from knowing the system and the playbook.

BUT this would mean Jantz isn't the QB the staff hoped for.

In two starts against Mo. & Neb. Tiller has looked terrible. He has managed ONE TD for the offense, and that was because the WR got behind the defense for a long TD. Not one sustained driv in 8 quarters. In this league you have to be able to score and I don't see that even a remote possibillity with Tiller.

I don't mean to rip Tiller and I hope he can contribute somewhere else, but its a real long season if Jantz can win the job, or at least one of the younger QB's to build for the future.

Chris really said that?! I agree 100% with you. I will be very disappointed if Jantz or Capello fail to beat out Tiller.

We're in trouble if Tiller wins the job. Lots of trouble.

Can't agree more. There is a cap on the success this team will have if Tiller is the guy

I don't care if Bueker or the guy that helped the bball team wins the job. I just want to win football games. Period.

Re: Chris, I have to completely disagree about Tiller winning QB spot

I would say that the argument that Tiller has a leg up because he knows the offense better is not very persuasive at all. In every game he played the offense had to be dumbed down because he didn't know/understand the playbook well enough.

Re: Chris, I have to completely disagree about Tiller winning QB spot

My point was/is: IF JT somehow wins the job, that means that he's improved immensely over the last year, which would be a very good thing. I never said that I thought he would. In fact, I believe in that same interview I said that I thought Jantz would be the starter.

No, Tiller hasn't been great so far in his Iowa State career. But competition sometimes sparks guys and up until now, this has always been Austen's team.

Why not root for a guy to defy the odds and become the quarterback that we all hoped he'd be from day one?

I hope that Steele Jantz is the next Seneca Wallace. I really do. But what if he isn't? You need more than one guy and if Tiller goes out there and proves to the coaching staff that he has grown and that he is the best man for the job, why is that a bad thing?

    That was my point.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Re: Chris, I have to completely disagree about Tiller winning QB spot

I listened and Chris basically put his usually positive spin on it saying if Tiller won the job not only would we have the advantage of his experience but he would of improved enough to beat out the competition. He did say he thought Jantz would win the job.

Actually by saying he thought Jantz would win the job I thought he was more out of character than normal.

This thread is assuming that a QB peaks during his sophomore year. What if Tiller improves from sophomore to junior year and is better than the QB that we all expect Jantz to be? I think I just blew some minds.

I think we were the only Big 12 team their defense held under 35 points or something like that. We were absolutely awful.
