Looking at the schedule 6 wins looks very tough

I was going to propose the question if Jantz came in and performed at David Archer or Alex Espinoza type abilities and if the ISU DL continued the improvement in the off-season and throughout this year that we saw during last season could ISU get to 6 wins?

But the front half of the schedule is loaded. Outside of UNI the most winnable game out of the first 7 could be Texas. Baylor & Texas A&M get a lot of players and returning QBS back. I think Missouri gets a fair amount of returning players but has to replace their QB obviously. Then ISU has a couple of monster games on the
back half in OU & OSU.

Maybe they can beat UNI, UCONN(sounds like a lot of ?'s with their team), Texas, Texas Tech, KU & KSU to get to 6, but it looks tough.

I think in order to reach a bowl game, we will have to go 2-0 versus the state of Kansas and win 2 games again Texas teams. Then we have to hope we can win two of our non-conference games. I don't see us beating OU, OSU, Mizzou, or A&M.

Yep. Will most likely be a brutal year. I'm just hoping to be surprised.

what ISU does under Rhoads seems to match-up fairly well with Mizzou. And at Columbia in 09...it wasnt till the late 3rd/4th qtr before the Mizzou offense really took off. UI think ISU was up 17-10 at the half. Mizzou finally tied it up at 24, with about 12 to go.

That is a game I think ISU should be in. Is A&M at Ames? They will have a huge talent advanatage with that offense, but they don't seem to play well on the road either.

Why is everyone still so terrified of UCONN and writing them off as a loss? They are not a very good football team.

Re: Looking at the schedule 6 wins looks very tough

Everyone already knows this. I remember hearing how we were only going to win 3 games and we ended up a two point conversion away from getting 6 and could have possibly went on to win the North. If we are going to be the team that we all want to see we cant sit back and make excuses to why we won't make a bowl game and how our schedule is so tough. This team is going to surprise many of you.

If we beat UNI and UConn and at least make the Iowa game close, I'll feel good about the conference season.

It's just way too early to tell. So many things could happen between now and the start of next season for any of the Big 12 teams...academically ineligible players, injuries, suspensions, etc. If the season started tomorrow I'd think we'd be lucky to get to five wins. But it doesn't, so I'm not making any predictions. I do like CloneFan4's take. The program is never going to get off the ground if the fanbase is always ready to more or less write off the next season before Memorial Day. Have a little faith.

Exactly. It's disgusting to see our own damn fan base writing off these guys when it's only March. It's almost tiring to hear all of the ******** excuses to why we can't win 6 games or why we cant beat such and such team. Rhoads believes in these kids and they believe in him and the rest of the coaching staff. That right there is enough for me to buy into this team.

Re: Looking at the schedule 6 wins looks very tough

We need to be 2-1 at worst going into B12 play. That means a win on the road @UCONN (doable I think) or a win at home over IA (could be our best chance to beat them out of the last 3-4 yrs.

We play TX with a bye week to prepare so that is a plus, we know they have the talent advantage but how will new coordinators etc affect them. I have a hard time penciling this in as a W but we do have a streak against them

I think we need to be at least .500 against BU, MU, ATM, or TTU. Only one of those is at home (ATM) but CPR has found a way to win on the road so far , hopefully he can do it again. I would love to win the games in TX to help with recruiting.

If we can do some combination of what I have said so far that would put us at 4 W's meaning that we would aslo need to go .500 against the states of OK and KS (probably more likely 1.000 against KS and KState)

I think 6 W's is doable but it will not be easy. It seems to me that the most "winnable" games are on the road in the B12 and we play some of our tougher games at home so that is scary.

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

Or Iowa? ISU has no chance vs. UI in Ames are some familiar last words.

I think that they can win every game. It's not much fun watching a game that you think there is NO chance of winning. Will they go undefeated?? It's not very likely...

I love the youtube video of the Hawk fans calling in to the radio show and saying that we were gonna get beat by 50 in 2005. Saying that if they didn't blow us out that they wanted Ferentz's head. What happened that year? We went on to beat em 23-3 and had many more chances to put more points on the board. Just think if we would have converted two of those FGs into TDs we could have beat the **** out of them. A shut out would have been nice too.

I like all the people that write off the season already. Complain about it. But won't buy a single ticket over the course of the season. Then complain again that we don't have the resources. Fun circle.
