That's footall only. The article also discusses overall numbers. Kansas moves from #12 to #2 in profit thanks to their basketball program when looking at the athletic department as a whole.

What does profit mean when its being immediately reinvested in program improvements? Those overall numbers just tell me texas has more money than it knows what to do with.

The second set of numbers does not make sense. You are saying that schools such as ISU, OU, and TX are losing millions of dollars in other sports (which makes sense), while schools such as KU and KState are making millions from these sports. I could see Kansas making bank in basketball, but they still need to support other programs which are a drain on the budget.

They make about 15 million a year on their program. If you check out this link, you will also see why Louisville keeps Pitino. 25 million is a lot of money.

Re: A look inside Big 12 Finances

Nearly all of the actual information for the entire athletic department is a educated-guess, as no such figures are actually released to my knowledge. The football only figures are likely close, and make up a large portion of most schools revenue and expenses...

Re: A look inside Big 12 Finances

I found it sad that Iowa reported 9 million in revenue from their BB team, while we reported 6. I know we are both bad, but those stands are empty in Carver, especially last year. Stupid Big Ten network.

Only because the KU athletic department was scalping tickets to their own games.

This is simple. Just win. Wins = $$$$$ and a future on the BCS level. More futility will eventually push us to mid major status.

KSU's athletic department takes home 54 times what our athletic department does.

    OUCH.
