    Grade the Tournament: First Round

What's your letter grade for the first two days? (I refuse to call Thursday-Friday games "round 2" -- but if you want to include the play-ins, go ahead.)

If you want to grade on a curve compared to previous years, include only Round 1's from those seasons (not the tournament as a whole).

Re: Grade the Tournament: First Round

I was going to make it a letter-grade poll, but I muffed it ... just grade & comment.

I'd give it a C-plus. Some exciting finishes and upsets on Thursday, but the Friday-night games were a big snore.

I'd give it a C. Thursday had great games, but you're right Fri games were blow outs. Plus alot of the teams I wan't to win lost.

Re: Grade the Tournament: First Round

I'd give it a B. Thursday was great, I thought. Today wasn't quite as good, but not every game can be a nail-biter.

The only thing keeping it from being an A is the fact ISU isn't a part of the tourney.

Edit: I should add, the 4 channel format is great. That factored into my grade.

I wondered whether to factor in the 4-channel -- definite plus. (It could also have been the reason my grade wasn't as high when I could flip to multiple games and none of them were good, such as late Friday, that was a negative. Overall, it lifted it -- you could check for the most competitive game and switch to it)

You're right. I'll go to B because of the 4 channel format.

It's been average. Note to self Never take Vanderbilt or Georgetown again.

    C+

Lackluster like the regular season. But it's still the NCAA tournament so you can't gripe too much.

I had the Don't Pick Vanderbilt rule in place -- don't think I picked any brackets with Vandy advancing. And that's about the only thing I did right.

I still continue to pick Georgetown

Re: Grade the Tournament: First Round

Yeah, I'd give Thursday an A for exciting games and upsets. Yesterday was a C. Still, I don't think it's fair to grade based on better seeds winning, as that just means that the committee did their job.

Overall, I'd give it a B+. It's easily my favorite sports event of the year.

expand this to tonight, and the butler-pitt game just moved it from a C+ to a B+ for me. Crazy finish.
